I don’t carry green paint and throw it at people wearing furs, I don’t proclaim to be a vegetarian, although my meat consumption is way down, and you sure won’t find me holding a sign in a march for animal rights- or I haven’t as of yet.
However, there is something very disturbing about the following photo…

In an article entitled Massive seal cull begins , I got a look at the photo, and I have to admit, I had to look up the word “cull”
cull
tr.v. culled, cull·ing, culls
To pick out from others; select.
To gather; collect.
To remove rejected members or parts from (a herd, for example).
I suppose “cull” sounds nicer than slaughter.
The article goes on to say in spite of an” import ban imposed in the United States and the European Union, a growth in demand for seal pelts from eastern Europe and China led the Canadian government to issue a quota in 2003 that allows hunters to kill 975,000 seals over three years.”
The saddest part of the article makes mention that the seal pups have been left partially alive and suffering, in massive piles over the ice.
While I am on my soapbox, at the time of this very same report another article came out today, Two-thirds of world’s resources ‘used up’
We let a woman die of thirst and hunger at the mercy of her husband who has moved on, we let pop stars sleep with children, yet we think we got enough smarts to play God and clone horses…
But thats ok, at least Britain has a plan to save planet from quakes and asteroids
Don’t mind me, I just find it all very perplexing.

My life has surely changed. Now I have to constantly refer to a schedule I make for myself daily. I have learned if I don’t write it down, I forget it. The joy of it comes when I get to cross items off! The problem of working for yourself at home is you never get to leave work….yet not having to leave home is also the good part.

I’ve updated my Terragen Art site, after a long time not doing so, and thought to announce it here on my blog.

I made this one on Easter day, and named it after a line in a Switchfoot song.

Once, once in a while
You’re gonna find her
Waiting for some recognition
It’s her transiton to recognition
She has to be loved
She want to be needed
Don’t want to be hated
Just loves to be wanted
See the beauty in her eyes
She love to be looked at
See her come alive
See her come alive
Now she’s the perfect person
Radiates the perfect presence
In her own eyes
She want to be needed
Don’t want to be hated
Just love to be wanted
(Chorus)
She got to be loved

I was on Yahoo Maps this evening, looking up directions for a trip I will make in the near future, and above the information was this interesting question: Which Cars Stolen Most Often?
Well that interested me, so I clicked on it to find this list:
That top 10 includes:
Toyota Camry
Honda Accord
Honda Civic
Chevrolet Full Size C/K pick-up
Ford Full Size Pickup (150/250/350)
Jeep Cherokee/Grand Cherokee
Oldsmobile Cutlass/Supreme/Ciera
Dodge Caravan/Grand Caravan
Ford Taurus
Toyota Corolla
After that it gave the option to look at the top stolen cars in one’s own state, so, I looked up my state of Maryland:
Honda Accord
Dodge Caravan/Grand Caravan
Toyota Camry
Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth Neon
Plymouth Voyager/Grand Voyager
Honda Civic
Dodge Intrepid
Jeep Cherokee/Grand Cherokee
Ford Taurus
Dodge Stratus
Chevrolet Caprice
Ford Full Size Pickup (150/250/350)
Ford Crown Victoria
Nissan Maxima
Chevrolet Cavalier
Toyota Corolla
Oldsmobile Cutlass/Supreme/Ciera
Plymouth Acclaim
Mercury Marquis/Grand Marquis
Nissan Altima
Ford Explorer
Ford Full Size Van (Econoline/Clubwagon)
Ford Escort
Dodge Spirit
Acura Legend
Not surprising to me, mom’s Kia Rio wasn’t on there.

If you don’t know, I am fascinated by the first book of the Bible, Genesis.
What could be more fascinating than, “In the begining…” ?
It’s a book I take literally, and I think I have passed on my same fascinations down to my children.
Tonight, on NBC news nightly, they are supposedly presenting the Answers In Genesis Creation Museum; doing a news story on it.

No one knows what to expect from me anymore, even my own children.
Enric and Miranda were casually sitting on the bed going over the photos I took of them, when I popped out with, “Say, did you know I am selling ringtones now?”
Enric’s jaw dropped, then snapped shut, as if saying to himself, “Of course my mama is selling ringtones - that’s my mama, always full of surprises. She does everything else on the net, why not sell ringtones.”
I had to smile at him as he decided to treat this as no surprise.
Anyway, have a look, make your phone ring with YOUR favorite song!

I can’t get this song out of my head for weeks now; the Pastor has been preaching on Forgiveness
Heart of the Matter by Don Henley
I got the call today, I didn’t wanna hear
But I knew that it would come
An old true friend of ours was talkin’ on the phone
She said you found someone
And I thought of all the bad luck,
And the struggles we went through
And how I lost me and you lost you
What are these voices outside love’s open door
Make us throw off our contentment
And beg for something more?
I’m learning to live without you now
But I miss you sometimes
The more I know, the less I understand
All the things I thought I knew, I’m learning again
I’ve been tryin’ to get down to the Heart of the Matter
But my will gets weak
And my thoughts seem to scatter
But I think it’s about forgiveness
Forgiveness
Even if, even if you don’t love me anymore
These times are so uncertain
There’s a yearning undefined
…People filled with rage
We all need a little tenderness
How can love survive in such a graceless age
The trust and self-assurance that can lead to happiness
They’re the very things we kill, I guess
Pride and competition cannot fill these empty arms
And the work I put between us,
Doesn’t keep me warm
I’m learning to live without you now
But I miss you, Baby
The more I know, the less I understand
All the things I thought I figured out, I have to learn again
I’ve been tryin’ to get down to the Heart of the Matter
But everything changes
And my friends seem to scatter
But I think it’s about forgiveness
Forgiveness
Even if, even if you don’t love me anymore
There are people in your life who’ve come and gone
They let you down and hurt your pride
Better put it all behind you; life goes on
You keep carrin’ that anger, it’ll eat you inside
I’ve been tryin’ to get down to the Heart of the Matter
But my will gets weak
And my thoughts seem to scatter
But I think it’s about forgiveness
Forgiveness
Even if, even if you don’t love me anymore
I’ve been tryin’ to get down to the Heart of the Matter
Because the flesh will get weak
And the ashes will scatter
So I’m thinkin’ about forgiveness
Forgiveness
Even if, even if you don’t love me anymore

I take a small pride in having an excellent memory. I usually remember personal things, I always wished I could remember what I read even better. On a recent trip to MSN site, I saw the “What Do You Remember From School?” Quiz, and took that as a challenge.
I got an A PLUS!

In my October 2004 Newsletter I mentioned a good book (A View from the Zoo) I had been reading, about an assisstant veterinarian to the Los Angeles Zoo. The book was more than cute little animal stories, each chapter had wonderful life (and Biblical) lessons.
I found the book at a used book store while shopping for some school books. When I started to read it, I went to Amazon.com to quicklly buy some more copies to give away. To my disappointment, there weren’t any new.
I wrote the author saying what a shame there were no new copies.
A response was very slow in coming, but when it did, it was with an announcement that an updated version for A View from the Zoo was being printed. Have a look at the website of A NEW View from the Zoo.
Very humorous and sweet reading!

I love beauty and nature. I’m part artist and photographer, and definately one who appreciates the beautiful planet created for us. So when you see the headline Senate Votes to Open Alaskan Oil Drilling you can react a few ways. One of being totally against it, so as to not disturb Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, or you can react very pro the idea, feeling we are far too dependant on foreign oil.
Or last you can be like me, torn. I don’t like dependency on other nations if we don’t have to, but I don’t like the beauty and wildlife disturbed.
