Miquel vs. Playstation

Miquel vs. Playstation

My son Miquel is quite an athelete. Ever since I can remember, he could pick up, kick, smash, toss, any ball, paddle, raquet, bat, and frisbee and do it with God given natural abilities. He always looked like one of those “naturals’ you hear spoke of. He does it well and he does it all with flair. I often tease him to stick with athletics, because when it comes to electronics, this realm often disappoints … Read entire article »

Drama to the Magical Backyard

Drama to the Magical Backyard

Recently I blogged on my magical backyard and posted photos of its treasures low to the ground. I was amiss in showing one of the treasures, high in the sky. A special tree. One that always conjured up stories between my friend Lisa and I. It’s built kind of odd for a tree. It starts with one trunk, then mid way up (which is already high) it starts to split. After this rounded split, it twists … Read entire article »

Personalizing this blog.

No one has said a thing about the new design to the blog! I thought I’d point out that I was really trying to customize it to make it more personal. Like a scrapbook of my life. I have even started to add ’snapshots’ of my baby & childhood photos and my childrens’ photos down the right column. I will continue to add more to fill out that column, so its not empty all the way down. It’s funny, when blogs started coming out, I really thought the idea was quite odd. As I look over the past blogs listed, I can see that I have really jumped in and enjoyed myself with it. I kinda like the way its going, what do YOU think? … Read entire article »

Japanese develop ‘female’ android

Japanese develop ‘female’ android

This could excite a few fellas out there? Imagine a female that doesn’t talk back, she does what she’s told, she doesn’t ask questions, and heck, she doesn’t even have opinions. She can flutter her eyelashes, and she can move her hands like a human. Only thing is, she’s an android. Seems Japanese scientists have unveiled the most human-looking robot yet devised - a “female” android called Repliee Q1. She has flexible silicone for skin rather than hard … Read entire article »

Driving in Baltimore (Maryland)

Driving in Baltimore (Maryland)

My cousing Tanya keeps sending me cute emails. This one is not only very ‘cute’ its so true! For those who are from Baltimore, still live there, have traveled there, and/or plan to travel through there in the future…. BALTIMORE ROAD RULES First, you must learn to pronounce the city name. It is Bawl-mer, or Ball-tee-more, depending on whether you live North or South of Route 40. Next, if your road map is more than a few weeks old, throw it … Read entire article »

It’s HOT!

It’s HOT!

Have I mentioned Maryland weather in this blog before?? I think I have. We have a saying here on the east coast, “It’s not the heat, it’s the humidity!” So when the heat actually does climb, things get dangerous around here. As you can see by the chart, if its a hot 96° F out and the humidity is at 50%, the heat index, and how the temperature feels to your skin is an actual 108°F … Read entire article »

How Wide is America?

How Wide is America?

3,304 photos. Or at least that is how Matt Frondorf would answer you. I have to admire this site and the reasoning behind it. Matt set out from the Statue of Liberty to the Golden Gate Bridge, and took a photo for each mile along the way. I wouldn’t mind doing such a thing, but I best not mention a world of it to my children, as they think I prolong even a short trip dragging my camera … Read entire article »

The Magic Backyard…

The Magic Backyard…

You know, one doesn’t have to travel far to look for adventure. Sometimes, the gnomes, the fairies, the mythilogical creatures of our imaginations are as close as our own backyard. Spells are cast, incantations overflowing, sprites hide behind the mushrooms as toads hop from rock to rock. Dwarfs surely tell jokes by the Indian Pipe plant. I had such a two day experience. See My photo page, some of the wonders I discovered… … Read entire article »

Wired

Wired

In my years while in the skinning community, one of the many favorite pasttimes in the forums was to “show off your desktop” and there the skinners would should off their latest jazzed up, completely skinned and fully customized look. Often, someone being ’smart’ wouldn’t send in their skinned desktop, but they would send in a real photo of their desk top, showing either their pc tower, monitor, and other trimmings around their desks. What are the Keys to Your Heart?

Laura seems to find the most adorable little “tests” to take. This was mine: The Keys to Your Heart You are attracted to those who are unbridled, untrammeled, and free. In love, you feel the most alive when things are straight-forward, and you’re told that you’re loved. You’d like to your lover to think you are stylish and alluring. You would be forced to break up with someone who was emotional, moody, and difficult to please. Your ideal relationship is lasting. You want a relationship that looks to the future… one you can grow with. Your risk of cheating is zero. You care about society and morality. You would never break a commitment. You think of marriage as something precious. You’ll treasure marriage and treat it as sacred. In this moment, you think of love as commitment. Love only works … Read entire article »

Bacteria is our friend

Bacteria is our friend

Not a huge fan of going to the movies, and hardly going to them at all, kind of makes when I do go, a bit of an event. This time around I decided on War of the Worlds, as the TV ads lured me to remember the days when my parents would fondly tell of the radio show that had the world in a panic. I suppose that influenced me heavily as, in fact, I … Read entire article »

Offensive

Offensive! Here in the US, more and more its considered OFFENSIVE to have the Ten Commandments displayed, in fact its banned, and they are working to ban the Pledge of Allegiance, too. Something I remember doing each day before school. Truly there is nothing offensive about either. But if those two items are OFFENSIVE, lets look at a list that our government SUPPORTS with our tax dollars, so they mustn’t be offensive:   Graphic videos demonstrating how to put a condom on and pep talks by “Planned Parenthood educators.” — sex education classes at public schools across the nation Korans distributed to aspiring terrorists at Guantanamo. — U.S. military “In the Americas, sugar meant slavery.” — Smithsonian exhibit Photo of a woman breastfeeding an infant, titled “Jesus Sucks.” — NEA-funded performance A photo of a newborn infant with its mouth open titled to suggest … Read entire article »

Lego Church

I’ve spent hours with my son Enric playing and building things with his legos. So it was so wonderful when I received a certain email from my cousin Tanya with pics of this Lego contruction of a church… Those pics got me to wondering more about this project, so I googled it, and found this site » Lego Church Not sure where the cats fit in, but it was an enjoyable visit seeing what went into the contruction … Read entire article »

Wilds Fever

Our household is slowly coming down from Wild’s Fever. I am not sure that is a good thing. Many of you already know that my children, right after the wedding, went to camp. They went to “The Wilds”, as it is called, this magical and wonderful campground nestled in the mountains of Brevard, North Carolina, ( The Wilds Website) which seems to transform entire lives of the willing. The only thing I know about the Wilds is that it puts the biggest smiles on my children’s faces each time they come back from this “camping experience”. They come back usually excited, with at least a hundred stories to share, silly re-creations of what they saw, and a mild case of exhaustion. With a name like The Wilds, one could wonder, what puts this … Read entire article »

First Kiss

First Kiss

Do you remember your first kiss? Do you remember with who? After more than a few people expressed surprise, shock, some even horror when I mentioned that at Enric and Miranda’s wedding ceremony, that was indeed their first kiss. Get me to the Church on Time (part 4)

Get me to the Church on Time (part 4)

Wedding over, with the bride and groom heading out to the car and the crowd blowing bubbles, we were not done with our marathon yet. We had one more church we had to get “in time” to. We had to go non stop from Wisconsin to Maryland, and in a hurry. No easy feat. We made it just in time. Here is Miquel, with his friends ready for camp. It may not look like camp attire, but it’s … Read entire article »

An old memory…

An old memory…

“An old memory” that was the subject line from an email from my dearest and most long time friend ever, Myrna. I couldn’t imagine what it was going to be, except perhaps, something had happened to trigger a memory of times together so many years ago. Her dad was the minister of our church in Baltimore (and later in Pasadena). Mom often taught Sunday School, Bible School, and later played the piano for services. The photo she … Read entire article »

Our Independence Day

Our Independence Day

We had a very sweet July 4th. The weather was sunny and great, the pool water was not too cold, and my sister and her husband came (fixed the bathroom fixtures, which was very nice!) and we had a cook out; all the usual, grilled barbecue chicken, hamburgers, corn on the cob, macaroni salad, and yummy chocolate chip cookie bars for dessert. Then we decided to go to watch the fireworks with Shelby and Lisa. It … Read entire article »

Get me to the Church on Time (part 3)

The next day was another struggle to get the the church on time for the actual wedding. We were blessed with SLEEP and a nice hotel room and soon it was off to Enric and Miranda’s wedding. I have to tell you, it was the sweetest wedding I have ever attended or have been a part of. Get Me to the Church on Time (part 2)

Get Me to the Church on Time (part 2)

Barely on time for the rehearsal dinner, we were whisked to Waukesha as the water tower so boldly let us know to the Griffiths house for a quick meeting of the family and friends and a chance to change for the rehearsal dinner and for the church afterwards. At the church we all listened carefully for our instructions for the ceremony the next day given by John Zimmer, Miranda’s once youth pastor and soon to be a missionary to … Read entire article »
