Sitges

gulls

I went to Sitges, Spain, when I was just 18. Very young. Very alone in a far away place from home. I wrote a very simple poem expressing how it felt.

There have been definate times in my life when I THOUGHT I was far from that alone girl, and could take all the love in my heart and pour it out to someone.

I find myself feeling kinda closer to her now some days, again. So, I dug up the poem to share.

Sitges

I drowned today at the sea
In the waves that were marching in
With thoughts about being free
And the peace I felt within.

I drowned in my thoughts about
Memories that have passed away
Just like the rocks firm and stout
My memories are here to stay.

I drowned in dreams which
Somehow have even come true
The seagulls above with their high pitch
Gave me a sign what I must do.

I drowned in my love which is
Vast and immense as the sea
With so much love to give as this
Who will at last return it to me?

I drowned in my new tears
As fresh and salty as the sea
With thoughts, dreams, and love that no one hears
I know now why drowning must be.

I drowned with the round sun
Drying my continuing tears for me
Turning away, and the day is done
I’ll never forget drowning at the sea.
