This time it was my long time friend Chris’s husband who handed me a CD of music, and a musician I had never heard of. I just played it and I am extremely impressed! Thanks Jim!
Born in upstate New York, Joe Bonamassa started playing on a short scale Chiquita guitar at the age of four, graduating to a full-scale guitar at seven. By the time he was 8, Joe was playing the blues like a veteran. “Stevie Ray Vaughn was a huge influence in my early days,” says Bonamassa, “but not my only one. I was influenced by all the great blues masters – Duke Robillard, Danny Gatton, Eric Clapton, and Robben Ford were all musicians I gravitated towards. I just naturally loved the blues and the seductive sound of the Stratocaster.”
At ten, Joe was performing locally, and at twelve, he was asked to open for B.B. King. After the performance, King would say, “This kid’s potential is so great that he hasn’t begun to scratch the surface. He’s one of a kind….a legend before his time.” The Father of the Blues’ high regard for Joe would be echoed by the guitar greats who would later perform with Bonamassa, including Buddy Guy, Danny Gatton, Robert Cray and Stephen Stills.
In the following two years, Joe established such a name for himself that Fender Guitars invited him to California to participate in a tribute to the company’s founding father, Leo Fender, in a line-up that included Robben Ford, whom Joe cites as a major inspiration and "one of my favorite guitar players of all time."

(this was sent to me by email, and my daughter and I found it humorous)
THIS GUYS KNOWS HIS MATH
He writes:
I was riding to work yesterday when I observed a female driver, who cut right in front of a pickup truck, causing the driver to drive onto the shoulder to avoid hitting her.
This evidently angered the driver enough that he hung his arm out is window and gave the woman the finger.
“Man, that guy is stupid,” I thought to myself. I ALWAYS smile nicely and wave in a sheepish manner whenever a female does anything to me in traffic, and here’s why:
I drive 48 miles each way every day to work.
That’s 96 miles each day.
Of these, 16 miles each way is bumper-to-bumper.
Most of the bumper-to-bumper is on an 8 lane highway.
There are 7 cars every 40 feet for 32 miles.
That works out to 982 cars every mile, or 31,424 cars.
Even though the rest of the 32 miles is not bumper-to-bumper, I figure I pass at least another 4000 cars.
That brings the number to something like 36,000 cars that I pass every day.
Statistically, females drive half of these.
That’s 18,000 women drivers!
In any given group of females, 1 in 28 has PMS.
That’s 642.
According to Cosmopolitan, 70% describe their love life as dissatisfying or unrewarding.
That’s 449.
According to the National Institute of Health, 22% of all females have seriously considered suicide or homicide.
That’s 98.
And 34% describe men as their biggest problem.
That’s 33.
According to the National Rifle Association, 5% of all females carry weapons and this number is increasing.
That means that EVERY SINGLE DAY, I drive past at least one female that has a lousy love life, thinks men are her biggest problem, has seriously considered suicide or homicide, has PMS, and is armed.
Give her the finger? I don’t think so !!

Exxon Mobil Sees Record Profit for U.S. Co.
Exxon Mobil Corp. posted record profits for any U.S. company on Monday — $10.71 billion for the fourth quarter and $36.13 billion for the year — as the world’s biggest publicly traded oil company benefited from high oil and gas prices and demand for refined products. The results exceeded Wall Street expectations and Exxon shares rose nearly 3 percent on premarket trading.
The company’s earnings amounted to $1.71 per share for the October-December quarter, up from $8.42 billion, or $1.30 per share, in the year ago quarter. The result topped the then-record quarterly profit of $9.92 billion Exxon posted in the third quarter of 2005.
Somehow, this is not a headline that thrills me. Perhaps thats because my trips to the gas station increasingly are a sad tale. Perhaps I’d be happier if I were a stockholder.

I just took this long test to find out that…

Artisans are the temperament with a natural ability to excel in any of the arts, not only the fine arts such as painting and sculpting, or the performing arts such as music, theater, and dance, but also the athletic, military, political, mechanical, and industrial arts, as well as the "art of the deal" in business.
Artisans are most at home in the real world of solid objects that can be made
and manipulated, and of real-life events that can be experienced in the here
and now. Artisans have exceptionally keen senses, and love working with their
hands. They seem right at home with tools, instruments, and vehicles of all
kinds, and their actions are usually aimed at getting them where they want to
go, and as quickly as possible. Thus Artisans will strike off boldly down roads
that others might consider risky or impossible, doing whatever it takes, rules
or no rules, to accomplish their goals. This devil-may-care attitude also gives
the Artisans a winning way with people, and they are often irresistibly charming
with family, friends, and co-workers.
Artisans want to be where the action is; they seek out adventure and show a constant hunger for pleasure and stimulation. They believe that variety is the spice of life, and that doing things that aren’t fun or exciting is a waste of time. Artisans are impulsive, adaptable, competitive, and believe the next throw of the dice will be the lucky one. They can also be generous to a fault, always ready to share with their friends from the bounty of life. Above all, Artisans need to be free to do what they wish, when they wish. They resist being tied or bound or confined or obligated; they would rather not wait, or save, or store, or live for tomorrow. In the Artisan view, today must be enjoyed, for tomorrow never comes.
Artisans make up between 15 to 20 percent of the population, which is good,
because they create much of the beauty, grace, fun, and excitement the rest
of us enjoy in life.

(ok folks, just a little humor)
Introducing the new Bio-Optic Organized Knowledge device, trade named: BOOK BOOK is a revolutionary breakthrough in technology: no wires, no electric circuits, no batteries, nothing to be connected or switched on. It’s so easy to use, even a child can operate it. Compact and portable, it can be used anywhere — even sitting in an armchair by the fire — yet it is powerful enough to hold as much information as a CD-ROM disc.
Here’s how it works:
BOOK is constructed of sequentially numbered sheets of paper (recyclable), each capable of holding thousands of bits of information. The pages are locked together with a custom-fit device called a binder, which keeps the sheets in their correct sequence. Opaque Paper Technology (OPT) allows manufacturers to use both sides of the sheet, doubling the information density and cutting costs. Experts are divided on the prospects for further increases in information density; for now, BOOKs with more information simply use more pages.
Each sheet is scanned optically, registering information directly into your brain. A flick of the finger takes you to the next sheet. BOOK may be taken up at any time and used merely by opening it.
Unlike other display devices, BOOK never crashes or requires rebooting, and it can even be dropped on the floor or stepped on without damage. However, it can become unusable if immersed in water for a significant period of time. The "browse" feature allows you to move instantly to any sheet and move forward or backward as you wish. Many come with an "index" feature, which pinpoints the exact location of selected information for instant retrieval. An optional "BOOKmark" accessory allows you to open BOOK to the exact place you left it in a previous session — even if the BOOK has been closed. BOOKmarks fit universal design standards; thus, a single BOOKmark can be used in BOOKs by various manufacturers. Conversely, numerous BOOKmarkers can be used in a single BOOK if the user wants to store numerous views at once. The number is limited only by the number of pages in the BOOK.
You can also make personal notes next to BOOK text entries with an optional programming tool, the Portable Erasable Nib Cryptic Intercommunication Language Stylus (PENCILS).
Portable, durable, and affordable, BOOK is being hailed as a precursor of a new entertainment wave. Also, BOOK’s appeal seems so certain that thousands of content creators have committed to the platform and investors are reportedly flocking. Look for a flood of new titles soon.

My love of music must just shine through. So many times I have been sent music from friends from all over the world. Marta and Pepe, who work at Universal Music always kept me in a big supply of music. Then a fellow I hardly know from Spain, who found out I didn’t have a lot of Dire Straits CD’s, send me a huge package full of Dire Straits. Countless others have sent me music for my enjoyment, and wishing to help me expand my library.
But this is the first time I received music from the band themselves! I saw the Muleman live some years back, and they were really impressive. I hung around after the show and they let me take photos during and after.
I first heard them play when going out to dinner, and they were upstairs of the restaurant. I just had to ask when I left who was that amazing sounding band…they told me,”Why that’s the Muleman!”. After that, I investigated, found their site, and their list of Club Dates, wasn’t too far after that, I contacted them, and was off to see them in Catonsville. They were expecting me and dedicated a song to me.
What a wonderful present to see 2 CD’s from one of my favorite bands, MULEMAN.

I bought their first CD and loved it, but didn’t have this next one, or the one made for Children.
MULEMAN plays “Happy Blues”, they also cover Van Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, B.B. King with their own special style.
I like the Muleman’s style! Thanks Muleman for the CD’s!

If you live in Maryland, and like “southern fried Rhythm and Blues” and good live bands, then check out the MULEMAN!

This is one I don’t mind coming in second with, and didn’t know about this till I saw my stats. and saw that someone found my site just looking for “Barb”
The visitor to my site was using MSN search, and just the word “BARB”. This happened again later in my stats, all in lowercase, “barb”
It got me thinking, why would someone just look for Barb? And where was *I* in the standings? It came as a huge surprise that out of 4,893,428 possibilities for BARB on MSN, my blog was #2.
Go figure. Not sure how long it will last, but for now I will enjoy second place.

I love to laugh. Some people make it even easier. My son Miquel always makes me laugh. I think he could have a future in stand up comedy if he had a mind to.
Here are some mp3’s I have collected of comedians, by far my favorite is Brian Regan, who we all imitate daily. No one can mention a Fig Newton, or Pop Tarts, or even the word “Girth” without any one of us breaking out into a Brian Regan routine. As well as Brian’s Pop Tart routine, I can also relate to Paula Poundstone’s routine, too.

And I love Steven Wright’s dry but often thought provoking sayings…

It doesn’t matter what temperature the room is; it’s always room temperature.

War on Terrorism, War on Drugs…now the War on Child Porn. The fight against it seems to have one thread in common, the government wants us to give up our privacy in order to fight them. While trying to fight porn, all of the other search engines have complied with the government, giving over millions of search results in doing their part of the Bush administration’s appeal regarding the Child Online Protection Act. Google has not.
How much privacy are you willing to give up in the fight to protect children from online pornography?

Iran’s leader challenges Europe to take back Jews in Israel
Is anyone a little concerned about Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad? Some of the things he says combined with his nuclear program in my opinion is definate reason for concern. However, I don’t think those in the USA are paying a lot of attention. Europe sure seems attentive, though.
Ahmadinejad provoked an international outcries last year when he said Israel should be “wiped out” and that the Nazi Holocaust against Jews in World War II was a “myth.”
With some of the provactive things he says, one only wonders what’s next. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, said this recently, “Well he is certainly an unusual one for president. And yes, I think he’s dangerous. It’s dangerous because these are thoughts and words that have consequences.”
With Iran now moving its money out of Europe in a precautionary move, one thinks these “consequences’” might not be too far away.
Just as the price of gas stabalizes here in the U.S., I’ve got to wonder for how long with this new set of issues in yet another Middle East with Oil Country.

I love my son.
I love Music.
What I have learned though, is that I don’t always love them both together.
In the car he often blasts these songs so loud, we can’t even think.
I have made a CD I have labeled “Compromise”, with songs I can tolerate and some I like.
However, for the most part, he just plays the ones he likes…over and over again.

where Xerraire lives!
Early this morning as I pulled into my driveway after taking Miquel to work, I saw this “X” in the sky, right on top of the roof of my house.
Seemed to say, Welcome home Xerraire!

Each day now, I go to my blog control panel and find 2,000 instances of TrackBack spam.
What is it?
TrackBack is a mechanism used in a blog to show, around an entry, a list of other blogs that refer to it.
Some individuals or companies have abused the TrackBack feature to insert spam links on some blogs. This is similar to comment spam but avoids some of the safeguards designed to stop the latter practice. As a result, TrackBack spam filters similar to those implemented against comment spam now exist in many weblog publishing systems.
Such is my case for my Word Press Blog.
What it means for me though is that, each day I have to hit delete 2000 times!
Likely there are ways aorund it, I could:
1. Turn off comments
2. Find a filter for it, which likely would require upgrading my blog, which in the end might mean for me more headaches than the 2000 deletes…
How are YOU dealing with trackback spam?

It escaped my notice that as of last Friday I have been blogging for one full year.
It has been a fun experience and I have been blogging things I never dreamed I would. Having a space on the net sure makes for incentive to go investigating things that interest a person to share with others, it gives you a place to pass on interesting sites and items, it’s a marvelous place to vent, and lastly it’s sure handy to pass on personal information and updates to all one’s friends and relatives.
I am looking forward to another year.
Thanks to all who have subscribed for updates, all who read it, and all who give me feedback. It sure is appreciated.

Lastly, to blog all my ‘presents’ for the season, I have saved ‘the weirdest’ for last.
One week before Christmas, and after church (which was a after a precious sermon on doing the Lord’s will), came the request, no, demand, for a divorce.
There was no surprise for me there, really, but the timing was sure odd to me.
I suppose you can say out of the wonderful blogs on Christmas presents that I have made, this one is being a bit sarcastic. Well, yes, it is.
I have rarely got this personal on my blog, but even saying this much, there is a lot being unsaid, and I feel good about that.
What comes next is, though, I don’t feel a bit apprehensive in blogging it at all, is that among the emotions that makes this a tragedy for a family, and truly, the split of a family IS a tragedy…the feelings of lost as to what to do next, and how to handle the technical aspects. I am really at a loss, as it’s an event that on the average, I feel we don’t prepare for. Most of us go into marriage thinking it’s forever.
So next in my life comes the research on what to do, how to find a divorce lawyer I can afford, and yet still have someone look out for my best interests, as apparently I haven’t a clue as to even what they are.
So far in my research, and much to my surprise one can even find Fast & Easy DIVORCES Online
. What’s next? Getting married online?
Also what I have learned is, the average uncontested divorce runs about $4,000. After that, the figure just goes into the $20,000+ neighborhood. Nice neighborhood if you are a lawyer!
