Solar Powered Plane

Solar powered plane may fly continuously for weeks.

It’s called a Zephyr, it has a 39 foot wingspan and weighs only 59 pounds.

On its first flight trials in New Mexico, it reached maximum altitude of 27,000 feet above sea level, but it is designed for as high as 132,000 feet. The platform is capable of continuous operation through the use of solar power and low drag aerodynamics. The combination of solar panels on the upper wing surface and rechargeable batteries allows Zephyr to be flown for durations of many weeks and even months.

What I want to know is, if they can power a plane that can go as high as 132,000 feet in the air, why can’t they power a car on the ground for us that way?

I believe they can develop technology to operate automobiles in this fashion. And I
Also believe they’ve been able to for quite some time. I think the folks in power
just want to make sure they have sucked this planet dry of oil and profited all they
can before actually allowing us to seriously travel such a path of alternate fuel sources.
