“You’re Too Busy”

You know you are too busy when the first chance one gets to read a magazine bought on November 7th,2005, is finally read (and in the bathtub I might add) on April 29th, 2006. I used to love reading women’s magazines. My sister used to subscribe to Good Housekeeping, and when she was finished with it, she would give them over to me. I looked forward to them. I loved and tried all the recipes, decorating tips, and hair ideas. These days, I haven’t the time nor the money to pick them up.I don’t know what caught my eye on November 2005 to purchase that magazine, but I finally got the time to look at it today. Women’s magazines haven’t changed that much since those days when I would get my sister’s magazines. There are many … Read entire article »

Skating Away on The Thin Ice of The New Day

Something brought to my mind today this lovely Jethro Tull Song. What does it say to you? Meanwhile back in the year one — when you belonged to no-one — You didn’t stand a chance son, if your pants were undone. `cause you were bred for humanity and sold to society — One day you’ll wake up in the present day — A million generations removed from expectations Of being who you really want to be. Skating away — Skating away — Skating away on the thin ice of the new day. So as you push off from the shore, Won’t you turn your head once more — and make your peace with everyone? For those who choose to stay, Will live just one more day — To do the things they should have done. And as you cross the wilderness, spinning in your emptiness: You feel … Read entire article »

Word Press Plug-Ins

One of the reasons I needed to upgrade this blog was to be able to implement some really needed plug-ins. One of the most needed was to stop the literal THOUSANDS of SPAM that was coming to this blog in a day. There didn’t seem to be any complete way to stop it with the old version of Word Press. To stop the problem I found the “Did You Pass Math” Anti spam plug in by Steven at Herod.net So now when anyone wants to leave a comment, I am sorry, but you have to do a little math problem in one of the fields. I hope everyone understands, this has essentially returned my blog back to the FUN it once was, instead of many work hours deleting SPAM. Next, since Bloglet stopped working, … Read entire article »

UN child study says first five years are key

“Parents are often so busy with the physical rearing of children that they miss the glory of parenthood, just as the grandeur of the trees is lost when raking leaves.” ~ Marcelene Cox The UN finally speaks up to say what Christian child development experts have been saying for many years now, those first 5 years are so very important to a child. They speak mostly from a health perspective, but allude to environmental emotional issues as well. “Children’s growth is influenced more by environmental factors than genetics up to the age of five, the World Health Organization said on Thursday.” This is an issue close to my heart. I think we are seeing way too many undisciplined children in our paths. We have to learn that discipline doesn’t equal abuse. The liberal … Read entire article »

Ted Kennedy opposes wind farm.

So Greenpeace is targeting Ted Kennedy. Ted Kennedy has never been my favorite politician -for a long time now, too. My first view of him was when I was very young and I went with my 4-H club to the Senate. He stomped his feet, he threw a tantrum like a two year old, and he basically left a horrible impression on a young girl of politics. The fact that it was that long ago just really gives a clue on one of the things wrong with this country today. Career politicians shouldn’t happen. We do so need term limits. Back to the wind farm. A wind farm will make use of the wind providing clean form of electricity, lowering costs, creating new jobs, and helps to clean the air. So why would Ted Kennedy oppose it? – … Read entire article »

Surprise at the front door

Surprise at the front door

“The moments of happiness we enjoy take us by surprise. It is not that we seize them, but that they seize us.”   I walked out my door to make a quick trip to the deli, when I noticed a big box on my step. It was a little heavier than what I expected, so Miquel came out to carry it in. Opening the packaging revealed a flat panel LCD monitor, something I really did need. No longer do I … Read entire article »

Freedom of Speech

i enjoy the freedom of speech very much in the USA. I believe in it very much, even when I do not agree with what is being said. However, how far is too far? I am finding headlines in the news very disturbing to say the least. I do believe that even our freedoms have certain limits and pertain to our citizens only. Why then, in heaven’s name did we recently have a very large protest organized for illegal aliens BY illegal aliens? The very term ‘illegal’ surely implies that our freedoms we enjoy are not for them too. They are here illegally, enough said. Today though, I came across another disturbing headline:   GLOBAL JIHAD Islamist protest in N.Y. – ‘Mushroom cloud on way’ Rally at Israeli consulate features pictures of Muslim flags flying over White House Whether those protesters were here illegally or not … Read entire article »

New Look

Lately I’ve been giving all my sites a face lift. I did for MXskinz. I did for SkinsGallery front page, and I also created a new look for the UE entrance page. Even though I LOVED the look of my blog, it was desperately necessary to upgrade the Word Press Version. In the upgrade process, a new look seemed like a good idea. Bear with me as I get it all organized the best way.  What do you think of the new look? Many thanks to Jeff for upgrading my blog.  … Read entire article »

Someone to Watch over Me

Someone to Watch over Me

Katharine owned the show (American Idol) for me tonight with this song, and these lyrics… Someone to Watch over Me There’s a saying old, says that love is blind Still we’re often told, “seek and ye shall find” So I’m going to seek a certain lad I’ve had in mind Looking everywhere, haven’t found him yet He’s the big affair I cannot forget Only man I ever think of with regret I’d like to add his initial to my monogram Tell … Read entire article »

A victim can spot trouble

A victim can spot trouble

I went to Delicate Genius’s Blog, and found this test, ‘Programming language inventor or serial killer?”. One looks at a series of ten images and you try to decide if the men pictured there are programmers or serial killers. I scored 10 out of 10. Unfortunately I think I did so well because I’ve been vicitimized far too long, and can see weirdness in the eyes of even the most innocent looking. Fortunately, I might have … Read entire article »

$400 Million Retirement Package

Not bad, eh? Exxon Chairman Gets $400 Million Retirement Package Amid Soaring Gas Prices Doesn’t it warm your heart as you pay near or more than $3 a gallon to know Exxon’s Chairman is so well taken care of? Soaring gas prices are squeezing most Americans at the pump, but at least one man isn’t complaining. Last year, Exxon made the biggest profit of any company ever, $36 billion, and its retiring chairman appears to be reaping the benefits. Exxon is giving Lee Raymond one of the most generous retirement packages in history, nearly $400 million, including pension, stock options and other perks, such as a $1 million consulting deal, two years of home security, personal security, a car and driver, and use of a corporate jet for professional purposes. Which reminds me of an … Read entire article »

“Men for the sake of getting a living forget to live.” ~Margaret Fuller There are a lot of ways being self-employed can be a scary thing, but I agree with this News Article that says: Happiness is working for yourself The job may be long on hours and short on pay. I Missed the NEWS and I’ve Got a BUSH of a Headache…

Many is the time I have complained about Maryland’s climate. One area where one can be affected with all its pollen and humidity is how it affects one’s sinuses. My three children and I all suffer from intense pressure, pain, and headaches when the climate gets a certain way, and we are in everyway dehabilitated with sinus headaches. We have tried many remedies natural and pharmaceutical, and could never find anything that worked, until, SINUS … Read entire article »

My Queen Collection

American Idol did Queen songs tonight, and I’ve been anxious all week to see how that would go on tonight’s show. There were some pleasant surprises, like Kelly singing Bohemian Rhapsody! There wasn’t one that was a surprise however, I KNEW Katherine HAD to sing one of my favorites, "Who Wants to Live Forever". She did, and she nailed it. I wanted Chris to sing "Princes of the Universe" from Highlander, but he went with "Innuendo." As much as I would like to see Chris go all the way, I think he should have taken my advice, "Innuendo" just didn’t cut it. Anyway, all this Queen got me thinking I need to rip my QUEEN CD’s! 1. Queen – A Kind of Magic (4:25) 2. Queen – Another One Bites the Dust (3:37) 3. Queen … Read entire article »

More American Idol

Ok. I admit it. I’m addicted. I now look forward to each and every Tuesday night when the finalists of each week will compete once again. I get cozy with my children and we try to guess who will do well, who will be eliminated, and groan each week when they keep ones we don’t like. Last week they all had to sing a country song, (I am now a new fan of country music), and next week they all have to sing a Queen song. (Always been a Queen fan!) Well, as you know, when I like something, I collected it. Especially music. Here is my mp3 list of favorites from American Idol so far: Amercan Idol Kellie-Fancy-040604.mp3 American Idol Ace-Father Figure-060222.mp3 American Idol Ace-If You’re Not the One 060301.mp3 American Idol Ace-In the Still of … Read entire article »

Making Memories of Us

I’ve been watching a lot of this season’s “American Idol” There is a lot of talent this year, and I don’t know if I could really choose. Chris, so far, has been our family favorite. Last night, he owned me with these lyrics: Making Memories of Us I’m gonna be here for you baby I’ll be a man of my word Speak the language in a voice that you have never heard I wanna sleep with you forever And I wanna die in your arms In a cabin by a meadow where the wild bees swarm And I’m gonna love you like nobody loves you And I’ll earn your trust making memories of us I wanna honor your mother I wanna learn from your pa I wanna steal your attention like a bad outlaw I wanna stand out in a crowd for you A man among men I … Read entire article »

Churchgoers Live Longer

Want to live longer? Go to church! No kidding! A new scientific study finds people who attend religious services weekly live longer. “Religious attendance is not a mode of medical therapy,” said study leader Daniel Hall, a resident in general surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. “While this study was not intended for use in clinical decision making, these findings tell us that there is something to examine further.” More on the story… … Read entire article »

Top Ten April Fool’s Day Hoaxes

The Swiss Spaghetti Harvest In 1957 the respected BBC news show Panorama announced that thanks to a very mild winter and the virtual elimination of the dreaded spaghetti weevil, Swiss farmers were enjoying a bumper spaghetti crop. It accompanied this announcement with footage of Swiss peasants pulling strands of spaghetti down from trees. Huge numbers of viewers were taken in, and many called up wanting to know how they could grow their own spaghetti trees. To this question, the BBC diplomatically replied that they should "place a sprig of spaghetti in a tin of tomato sauce and hope for the best." More on the story here… Sidd Finch In its April 1985 edition, Sports Illustrated published a story about a new rookie pitcher who planned to play for the Mets. His name … Read entire article »
