Growing up there was music that I heard in church and on recordings, and even participated in cantatas that was this side of heaven. Over and over again, it was the music of John W. Peterson.
John W. Peterson is a songwriter who was a major influence on evangelical Christian music in the 1950’s through the 1970’s. He wrote over 1000 songs, and 35 cantatas.
Some of the more popular song titles include “It Took a Miracle”, “Over the Sunset Mountains”, and “Surely Goodness and Mercy”. His cantatas include Night of Miracles and Down From His Glory.
For years now I thought his music should be easy to buy and not have to rely on these old cassettes that I have. His music has been inmpossible to find. So, I have tried to record from the old cassettes to my PC to transfer to CD. It’s been a hard process, as this kind of thing doesn’t come easy for me.
Now in my search for information about this man, I have discovered in Wikipedia that he now has his own website and has teamed up with his grandson making more music.
