1975

Continuing with my Time Life Collection from the songs of the 70’s.
This time I thought I’d add a visual.

1975 was one of the best years. Petra came to live with us, AFS activities filled our home and social life. School kept us busy too with Homecoming, Christmas, and Sadie Hawkins Dances at Northeast High School. We once made a few dozen posters announcing Petra’s arrival to the school as an AFS student, only to hear remarked, “What’s a Petra?” We also had to make a few public speeches describing both sides of exchange student life.

We went roller skating, ice skating, bowling, and many parties, sometimes with AFS friends, Fernando, Luis, Masahiro, Adriana and Paolo, and often just the two of us. More than a few times with Chrissie and Andy from church.

The basement became a place of fun with air hockey and ping-pong set up. Everyone who came through my beaded doorway into my downstairs room signed my wall. Petra and I threw a Christmas party and Kathy’s boyfriend Ed spilled the hot chocolate twice, remember that Petra?

Not surprised to see KC on the list and The Hustle, they was played over and over again at the Roller Rink. And I sure remember my friend Lisa going wild over Free Bird. I remember Donna and I singing to the top of our lungs “Why Can’t We Be Friends” while she peddled my bike with me on the handlebars down the road coming home from school. Good times.

    Barbara,

I was searching music on the web and came across your playlist and went to your blog site. You have good taste in a variety of classic 70s music. The group Bread has a song called “Last Time” that’s one of my favorites you might want to check out. Jars Of Clay – I’ll Fly Away is a great song.

Anyway, I am posting here (at this point in the blog) because I saw the picture of your father and he looks a lot like me. If you want I’ll send a pic of myself at the same profile.

You are a talented photographer and artist. I like the composition and colors that you use.
    Keep up the great work.

Also, I enjoyed reading your blogs.

    Take care.

    – Tim
