Charm Bracelet, part two.
Beth Ellen took an interest in my charm bracelet I blogged about yesterday, asking for more information. I was more than happy to do so. As crowded as this bracelet is, I still need some more: A dolphin would be nice, and something to represent my children. Click on the image for a larger view. … Read entire article »

Lost but now Found Charm Bracelet
I don’t have a lot of jewelry, and I certainly don’t have a lot of “good jewelry.” So when my silver charm bracelet went missing, I was quite distraught. I talked to my son about it being lost. His reply was quite unexpected, “Did you pray about it?” I almost couldn’t answer him, then I found my voice, “Well no, son, I can’t say that I did. I never thought to ‘bother’ God about my lost bracelet.” So … Read entire article »

Saddam to Be Executed Tonight
I just read on Drudge that within a few hours Saddam Hussein will be executed. Wow, they don’t waste any time in Iraq. “All the measures have been done,” Haddad, a judge said. “There is no reason for delays.” Al-Maliki said opposing Saddam’s execution was an insult to his victims. His office said he made the remarks in a meeting with families of people who died during Saddam’s rule. “Our respect for human rights requires us to execute him, and there will be no review or delay in carrying out the sentence,” al-Maliki said. I read as this will happen, the state has run television broadcasts of Saddam’s attrocities. Smart move, really. I recall only seeing a few small broadcasts of his attrocities here in the U.S., I think that is a mistake. Since we have … Read entire article »

In the past, this household has always been full of different people, from the exchange students, to daughters coming back home to live and bringing their families, to temporary live-ins, to those I have met online visiting… These days, it is always full of young people, friends of my two teens. I suppose I could understand my daughter in law’s confusion in how to address the envelope for our Christmas card… Well done Miranda, and thanks for the biggest laugh … Read entire article »

Teenagers: God’s Revenge?
I heard this one on a Jeff Allen Clip: “I believe teenagers are God’s revenge on mankind. It’s as if God himself looked down and said, ‘Hey let’s see how much they like it to create someone in their own image who denies their existance.’ ” … Read entire article »

First Look: Terragen 2
Most know that I have been smitten with the Terragan program and have gone on to use it as a hobby, professionally, and also as a category to my art sites. It has near been an addiction, but not totally! Terragen 2 (technology preview) has just been released and my first looks into it is overwhelming to a non pro 3d software user like myself. However, I keep reminding myself how overwhelmed I was with the first … Read entire article »

Prepare!
Today I went to a funeral. A nice family man in our church, still rather young, was diagnosed with cancer and 6 days later he died. Before he died, after learning the news about his condition, he said to his wife, that if the Lord wants him to go Home in heaven that he was ready, and if the Lord wanted him to remain, he was ready for that too, and would fight this disease. He was ready either way. The pastor gave an intense sermon today from Amos chapter 4, “…prepare to meet thy God.” How about you? If you had six days, would you be prepared? Are you ready like this dear man? “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13 … Read entire article »

It’s begining to look (and feel) a lot like…
the start of the Christmas season! Went out in the bitter cold to go Christmas shopping, had a lovely red cardinal perch on our deck outside the door, looked over my Christmas list once and twice to see who I could check off, and now baking pumpkin bars, and the house is full of spicy aromas. Don’t you just love this time of year? … Read entire article »

Radiation Storm
According to Spaceweather.com , a radiation storm is underway. I just love when occurences match what we are learning in school – both Laura and Miquel have recently completed chapters on the sun and the atmosphere. Sky watchers should remain alert for auroras, which could flare up if and when a CME arrives. My friends and family in Wisconsin, take note! By the way, did you know there is a website that will alert you if there are auroras going on? » SpaceWeatherPhone.com … Read entire article »

Innovation of the Year
Inventions…and interested in seeing what was the latest cool gadget out there, I was curious to see what the ‘Innovation of the Year’ was – the grand prize of all new products out there. I was surprised when I got the page, and saw… a nail. But it’s not just any nail. This nail promises to make your home twice as tough. In light of earthquakes and hurricanes, Bostitch engineer Ed Sutt dedicated his career to designing a better nail. The … Read entire article »

What do you do when the Firehouse gets on fire?
Last evening, I started to grow quite concerned when I heard fire engine after fire engine fly past my house and around the corner. When I thought the crisis was over, another set of fire engines would make haste down the road and around the corner. It was getting rediculous, I was counting about 50 of them. I hadn’t heard that many emergency vehicles since I was trapped in Madrid with the 1979 terrorist bombs. My … Read entire article »

I love how the internet gives us quick and easy news from around the world. Telemundo: Venezuela Halts Transmission On Election Night – Truly there is no surprise for me there. L.I.T. Conference
Yesterday my children had the priviledge to participate in our church’s annual LIT conference. LIT stands for Leadership in Training for Christ. There were about 250 people there from about 20 churches. The young people there were spiritually challenged, and experienced fellowship, accountability, and spiritual teaching time by some of the best speakers for young people, one being Dr. Rand Hummel. I also got to participate in a small way, I was the official photographer for … Read entire article »

Immigration
Having been on the legal side of immigration policies in the U.S. and know how challenging it can be, I totally resent the ease of which illegals slither into this country and few in high places seem to really care. Even worse however, is a story like the following: It seems that many illegal aliens flock to North Carolina for some reason. North Carolina is a haven to them, and they can even get a drivers liscense without proof of citizenship. One such person, Eduardo Raul Morales-Soriano obtained such a drivers liscence. He then moved to my state of Maryland, presented his North Carolina liscence, and traded it in for a Maryland one, no problems. Apparently Maryland isn’t legally obligated or even allowed to check them out. Now, imagine a Maryland man, only 21 … Read entire article »
