Greater Than You Can Imagine
In my net travels today, I found myself on in2thefrays blog and I saw an interesting speech by Newt Gingrich…. “We are today engaged in a phoney war since 9-11. We don’t tell ourselves the truth, We don’t organize for victory, We don’t hold our enemies accountable, We don’t insist our allies pay attention, We don’t reorganize our bureaucracy so they’re effective, We are in real trouble. I can”t say this too strongly, I worry everyday. When 6 out of 8 terrorist in Great Britain are medical doctors, the danger of biological attack are more real than you can imagine. When Pakistan is unstable and the Iranians and North Koreans are unchecked, the danger of a nuclear event is greater than you can imagine. When there are 6 terrorists picked up in New Jersey, and 3 of them have been here for 21 years illegally, … Read entire article »

My Weekend
Usually I am a steady blogger, but I think I slowed down the pace of late. In fact, even my weekend seemed slow of pace…and you know what, I enjoyed and needed that. My emotions and life needed a break from the hassles of our troubling headlines. Also, Tony, my ’star quality’ reader kinda told me off yesterday for making my blog too political. So, I thought an entry about my weekend would be even another nice … Read entire article »

Technicality Takes Precedence Over the Rights of the Victim
We have a case in Maryland, that, thanks to Bill O’Reilly from Foxnews, has received National Attention. The national attention is a good thing as I see it, as Maryland’s press tends to hide these kinds of stories. It seems that a man from Liberia, accused of raping and repeatedly molesting a 7 year old girl, will not have to face the charges on the grounds that the court couldn’t find an interpreter. As the facts surrounding this become known to the good people of Maryland, turns out, the accused, Mahamu Kanneh, attended high school and community college in Montgomery County right here in our state. To me, that doesn’t sound like someone who needs any kind of interpreter. “Circuit Court Judge Katherine D. Savage ruled last week that the delays associated with … Read entire article »

Dispel Those Nasty Rumors, Hugo!
In an effort to let people know he is not a tyrant or dictator, President Hugo Chavez said Sunday that foreigners who publicly criticize him or his government while visiting Venezuela will be expelled from the country. “Government opponents argue Chavez — a close ally of Cuban leader Fidel Castro — is becoming increasingly authoritarian and cracking down on dissent as he steers oil-rich Venezuela toward what he calls “21st-century socialism.” Well that should help those silly rumors! The Sales Tax holiday grants an exemption from the 5.75 percent sales tax for school items, clothes, shoes, and accessory items. The Divorce Came Through
In spite of the little levity of that graphic I found, I did think to announce to everyone that today, after some years of waiting, my divorce finally came through. In spite of it all, I still believe in God’s institution of marriage and family; it’s just that without going into detail, I have come to the conclusion, that while some might be able to live with abuse and tolerate maltreatment, I reached a point in the road where it … Read entire article »

What’s the One Million For?
“Some men rob you with a six-gun, others with a fountain pen.” I am a little behind blogging on this news story. There are days our government can carry on antics with the speed of lightning, making it difficult for us bloggers to keep up. And these are only the antics we hear of. With the taxpayers money though, every little cent should be accountable, however recently, there was a million dollar spending bill on the floor and no … Read entire article »

Invitation to Think
Matthew over at I, Pandora has been thinking and invited me to link to this particular blog; a few of his ponderings regarding our culture today. An example: “There is no objective truth!” the claim rings across the hills and valleys. “Oh? Is that true?” the echo returns. “Yes, it is!” is the reply, ignorant of it’s own disproving irony. Sim City 4: Woodstock
In my down time, I allow myself one computer game, Sim City 4 Deluxe Edition (PC). I present my most successful city yet, with the money accumulating and the highest approval rating I’ve ever had. China Warns
Today I read that China has issued the USA a stern warning. “China warned the United States on Thursday against “groundless smear attacks” against Chinese products and said it was working responsibly to address concerns over a spate of recent food safety scares.” The article continues to say how they haven’t taken it lightly on the recent toxic food issues, tires, pet food, and so on, but then it continues. “It is unfair and irresponsible for the U.S. media to single China out, play up China’s food safety problems and mislead the U.S. consumer,” Oh! It’s the USA’s MEDIA they have a problem with. I thought they were warning the government. Gee, don’t they know that is an institution out of control??? Good luck to them on that one. Prostitution 101, No Really
[Brit has made me see I really need a post or two off the political path, here it goes...] I saw this on FoxNews: College courses on Prostitution could be the next addition to New Zealand’s educational institutions, with funding, I might add. Going to the official article, it does say that the Government isn’t really aware of any demand for this kind of course. I just got to wonder what the final exam is like. … Read entire article »

Artificial Truth
I was reading over at Chris Pirillo’s blog how he has come to the conclusion that Aspartame is poison. However, he mentioned that he thought the dangers of Splenda was still on the fence, but he was going on the side of caution. Wise. I wanted to comment on his blog, but getting a password sent to my email proved impossible. So instead, I will blog my thoughts on splenda here. I used to use splenda in my coffee, on my cereal, but have stopped. Apparently it was in many a softdrink that I was drinking as well. I wasn’t sleeping very well and I had some other issues, so I went to the local Nutrition Shop to ask for advice. When I mentioned I wasn’t sleeping very well, they asked me, “Do … Read entire article »

Iraqis Being Smuggled Across the Rio Grande
I must be brilliant. No, I must be psychic. It seems the FBI is now, 2007, investigating Iraqis and other Middle Eastern individuals coming into our country from Mexico. I had this figured out this would happen right after 9-11. Geez our government is stupid, because I am not brilliant nor am I psychic. More on the story HERE As an added point, Bush can’t be serious about an entire war in Iraq while he blesses this kind of activity. All or nothing, this is defintately a mixed message. … Read entire article »

Edwards | Snooze | Fairness
The question at NewsBusters seems to be did Good Morning America remove a sleeping man behind John Edwards (or as Grit calls him, the Perfect Haired One ) during the show? A look at the movie shows that the man was indeed snoozing at least, and is there, and later is not. Hillary has also been on Good Morning America. Crying Over Spilled Milk
Have you bought milk recently? The price has shot up overnight without any explanation, rhyme or reason. Of course there is a reason though. I found one clue in the news today at TimesOnline : "This month, the price of milk in the United States surged to a near-record in part because of the increasing costs of feeding a dairy herd. The corn feed used to feed cattle has almost doubled in price in a year as … Read entire article »

Thou Shalt Exclude thy Rivals
These democrats want to censor everything these days, including their own! This image is of Hillary Clinton and John Edwards discussing their desire to limit future joint appearances to exclude some "lower rivals" after a forum in Detroit Thursday. Edwards says, "We should try to have a more serious and a smaller group." Clinton agrees, saying, "We’ve got to cut the number" and "they’re not serious." Immigration Bill Defeat
"I have a rule of thumb, if both major parties agree, it must be really bad." Ron Smith , talk show radio host in Baltimore, Maryland. How I agree with Mr Smith, who often calls himself "the voice of reason." I like listening to him, as I think he doesn’t belong to either party. So his show really gives a whole other view. I heard this quote while parked in my car, waiting for my daughter to finish her soccer practice, and I quickly jotted it down. I remembered it today after reading an article by Pat Buchanan . Mr. Buchanan takes note that rarely when two parties agree that we have don’t get a bill going the way of the people. He says: "A defeat like this is almost unheard of in … Read entire article »

Fairness Doctrine
I know I have already blogged on this crucial subject on the "Fairness Doctrine ," but on important subjects, I don’t think re-examining the issue is out of line. It was an article in CNN.Money of all places where it really got me to thinking. It said: "When a conservative appears on talk radio, liberals cry for the Fairness Doctrine. Seventy-five free hours for Archbishop Gore’s Church of Climate Change? Not a peep." It’s true. I mean what should be an issue for reasonable examination, has been turned into a politics. Under the so called "fairness doctrine" would Live Earth have been possible? I sincerely doubt that they would have given the same block of free time to the respected and just as educated scientists who feel a little differently to the Global Warming … Read entire article »

Dignity
More and more as the news stories are beamed to us about one celebrity or another, I wonder whatever happened to DIGNITY. I mean, as a public figure, I think it would do well to have some, even as a private person, it’s a wonderful thing to have. “Green” Also Means Money
The day after Live Earth, I read my daughter’s science book on the “global warming” theory and scanned news articles, which a few were revealing about the MONEY some of the headliners and people associated with Live Earth make and made. For instance, Live Earth Participant, FoxNews says about Madonna: Madonna, who seems to be on top of all her many business endeavors, has actually invested about $2.7 million dollars in companies that are creating the destruction that Live Earth is trying to raise awareness about. She has invested in several companies named as the biggest corporate polluters in the world. It’s a cruel irony that Madonna’s Ray of Light Foundation owns blocks of shares in companies that folks like Al Gore and Leonardo DiCaprio would like to see punished and rehabilitated for their attitudes toward global warming, … Read entire article »

Talk Radio is Fair
For as long as I can remember, talk radio has played in our home. I so remember my mom putting on Conference Call on the radio, where a panel had a discussion and people called in the station and there was debate. Oldest DNA ever recovered shows warmer planet
Since I posted some "earth news" over in Boz and Oz today once already, I thought I better put this news headline here at Barb’s Blog. "Scientists who probed two kilometers (1.2 miles) through a Greenland glacier to recover the oldest plant DNA on record said Thursday the planet was far warmer hundreds of thousands of years ago than is generally believed. DNA of trees, plants and insects including butterflies and spiders from beneath the southern Greenland glacier was estimated to date to 450,000 to 900,000 years ago, according to the remnants retrieved from this long-vanished boreal forest." That’s really interesting. More of the story HERE (Can someone tell me why Breitbart always crashes my IE browser? Anyway, I suggest Firefox for this link). … Read entire article »

New Neighbors
As if Maryland so close to Washington D.C. doesn’t give us an odd set of neighbors as it is, enter Michael Jackson looking for a new home. Apparently in his hunt for a vacation home, he is looking around the eastern shore of Maryland, in the Chesapeake Bay region. Reports have been circulating that Jackson looked at property in the 17th century waterfront town of St. Michaels , a picturesque village that I have heard is quite lovely. Our Sacred Honor
What kind of men were the 56 signers who adopted the Declaration of Independence and who, by their signing, committed an act of treason against the crown? Good Divorce Attorney in Maryland
As I wind down from an exhausting day, I couldn’t let it go by without sharing to others about a very good divorce lawyer that I could recommend completely. Tara Frame is a complete professional. Knowing that her time is your money, she is quick, effecient, but still thorough. Her rates were the most reasonable I could find anywhere, but that didn’t mean I wasn’t getting the finest representation. Tara listened. As personalities, likely we are quite opposite. When she made a recommendation for one way, but that didn’t feel right to me, she would hear my explanation and understand, and then offer yet another way to go. Her calm demeanor helped to remind me that she is taking care of this horrible situation for me and let me give her my legal burdens … Read entire article »

Axis of Hatred
I find this image disturbing. Not because two leaders of two different nations shake hands and unite to set up dairy and oil companies, but knowing who they are and what they have done to their own people, they feel they have the right to call US “barbarians.” “The two countries will united defeat the imperialism of North America,” a beaming Chavez told a news conference during an official visit to the Islamic Republic, which the … Read entire article »
