There were more political considerations behind awarding them the Games than anything else. Given the ongoing human rights issues I can't help but wonder why the rest of the world is falling all over itself to develop economic relations with them. I think the hope is that the growth of capitalistic ventures in the country will force change. I have my doubts. This just shows how difficult it is to separate politics from the Olympics.
