A Day in Avalon
Avalon Area of Patapsco State Park that is. Enric, Miranda, and Silas are still in town. Enric and Miquel decided to go mountain biking and Miranda and Laura went hiking. I got to spend some time with Silas. Silas climbed mountains at the playground there. Here, I show off my great grandparenting skills as I take photos of Silas falling off a swing. Next, we thought we’d impress Mr. Dolphin (or as Silas calls him, Dolph), and show … Read entire article »

Read the Bill
Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) inadvertently gives a great reason why they should take longer than 15 hours after finishing a bill in committee before voting on it on the floor. This man is the: Committee on the Judiciary (Chair) Subcommittee on Commercial and Administrative Law Subcommittee on Courts, the Internet, and Intellectual Property Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties If he needs two lawyers to read and interpret the bills, then we can conclude no one understands these laws as they are written! … Read entire article »

Rather Random Invitation
Saturday I called Enric, and in my own way asked him if he, Miranda, and Silas wanted to come here for awhile. Here it is Monday, and they are here! We are looking forward to about a week of their company! Here is our precious Silas! I think I am in love! Enric didn’t take long to start playing his guitar for us and also the piano. … Read entire article »

Politically Correct
These entities that have plagued our nation for so long now, these people who are SO politically correct FORGET, that they too have to BE politically correct. In just another example of how they like to make the rules but not PLAY by the rules is a page out of the Democrats Health Reform bill. The proposed health-insurance bill from the House of Representatives refers to mentally disabled people as “retarded” — a term advocates, relatives and physicians find outdated and offensive. The bill refers to: “A hospital or a nursing facility or intermediate-care facility for the mentally retarded . . .” The first thing that sprang to my mind after reading this was Obama on a late night talk show comparing his bowling skills to the “Special Olympics.” Which also angered a few groups. OOops. … Read entire article »

Baby Kitty Update
A week after we took our little orphan kitty home, I can report that he is growing fast, eating lots from his bottle, and now starting to walk (waddle) around and investigate his new home. Laura has been a good mommy, feeding him, washing him, and taking very good care of him. We don’t have a name for him yet, but we have been throwing a few ideas around. 57 Chevy has been rejected, as well as Crowser. We … Read entire article »

The Race Card
I just felt the need to say it. A DIFFERENCE OF OPINION DOESN’T MAKE A PERSON A RACIST! I would agree with Alan Keyes, (I used to listen to his radio show in Baltimore) a black man, and as far as I know, more black than Obama. In fact, I have voted for Alan Keyes in a primary election. I don’t agree with Obama’s policies, practically none of them. This doesn’t make me a racist. Now, these days, … Read entire article »

The Chart
I wasn’t going to write about Obama’s Health Care plan, but since his speech last night (what a load of crap that was), and today’s Roll Call email, I felt the need to weigh in on this. According to Roll Call: Democrats are preventing Republican House Members from sending their constituents a mailing that is critical of the majority’s health care reform plan, blocking the mailing by alleging that it is inaccurate. House Republicans are crying foul … Read entire article »

Sinful and Tyrannical
“To compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of opinions which he disbelieves and abhors, is sinful and tyrannical. ” Thomas Jefferson Some people quote the above this way: “To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.” Misquote or not, to me, they say the same thing. Having said all that, now we have the Obama administration wishing to add unlimited access to abortion-on-demand to his Health Bill. This would dismiss the fact that in some states it is not legal and worst of all, make people who believe that abortion is MURDER, to pay through their taxes, for something they are against, it goes against all they whole dear. Happy Days Are Here Again
How do I know? Well the White House top economic adviser says so! Top economic adviser Larry Summers highlighted one Friday to make his case that the economic free-fall has ended. The number of people searching for the term “economic depression” on Google is down to normal levels, Summers said. And there you have it.The White House has googled it, and now it’s official. I really do hope they rely on more than just google to make their case. So ignore all that unemployment, and the possibility that people aren’t googling anything as they lost their internet connection…. all is well says the White House. … Read entire article »

Commerce Secretary: America needs to pay for China’s emissions
As if Obama’s Cap and Trade Tax, further ruining our economy isn’t bad enough, Commerce Secretary Gary Locke said something amazing—U.S. consumers should pay for part of Chinese greenhouse-gas emissions. So China is really smart, they refuse to join the west in what could be called economic suicide, then they allow us to pay for their emissions? China LOVES the idea! Brilliant! According to Hot Air: The US does not need to pay for China’s carbon emissions, even if the “greenhouse effect” presents a danger to the planet, a theory which increasingly looks suspect. This is yet another version of the blame-America impulse in the Obama administration, one that will hit us all in the wallet — and in our outlets and furnaces. Commerce sent this statement to WSJ “Secretary Locke has been very … Read entire article »

Twitter a Job Qualification?
Believe it or not, Best Buy placed an ad for employment and naming Twitter as a Job Qualification. From a Computerworld Canada A recent job posting on Best Buy Co Inc.’s Web site for a Senior Manager – Emerging Media Marketing position based out of the company’s corporate headquarters in Richfield, Minn. listed two preferred job qualifications: a graduate degree and 250+ followers on Twitter. Basic qualifications for the position include a Bachelor’s degree, “two plus years of mobile or social media marketing experience” at the director or strategist level, “four plus years people or resource leadership experience” and “one plus years of active blogging experience.” Might sound kind of silly to those Twitter skeptics out there, and at first it sounded odd to me. Then I remembered that Comcast has a … Read entire article »

Total Takeover
“Our nation has elected an anti-American left-wing radical if not Communist to be president of the United States,” he warns. “We better begin to plan now for the reality and not for a democratic daydream. The ideological war has reached us at the top of our power structure threatening our very existence from inside.” ~ Hilmar von Campe, who grew up under the Nazis and wrote the book, Defeating the Totalitarian Lie, offering comparisons between Nazi Germany and America today. von Campe continues… It may sound like I am exaggerating or over-dramatizing the situation, but I think that we have a repetition of Hitler’s policy to get total power developing in the United States. Obama’s massive expansion of the federal government will destroy the United States as a world power, make us even … Read entire article »

A Second Chance
I don’t know how these things happen. One minute I hear my daughter squealing on the phone and the next, I am drivng us to pick up a teeny baby kitty where Jenny works. Ordinary People
In my devotions this morning… “There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal. Nations, cultures, arts, civilizations-these are mortal, and their life is to ours as the life of a gnat.” CS Lewis For some, the hardest thing to accept in the Christian view is the great value it places upon the individual soul. Even in its ruined condition a human being is regarded by God as something immensely worth saving. Sin does not make it worthless, but only lost. … Read entire article »

If Tomorrow Never Comes
This man, Kevin Skinner, came out on the show, Americas Got Talent, with his accent, his funny job (Chicken Catcher), his rough around the edges hat and clothes, and the panel of judges and audience had to surpress laughing at him. He soon had their serious attention with his guitar playing and singing. He had mine, with the most gripping lyrics on a country song I’ve heard in awhile. Sometimes late at night I lie awake and watch her sleeping She’s lost in peaceful dreams So I turn out the lights and lay there in the dark And the thought crosses my mind If I never wake up in the morning Would she ever doubt the way I feel About her in my heart If tomorrow never comes Will she know how much I loved her Did I try in every way To … Read entire article »

Sarah Palin, More Than Just Alaska’s Governor
July 3rd, when Sarah Palin announced she was stepping down as governor of Alaska, I was surprised, but I didn’t think it was a huge news story. I guess I was wrong, because what has followed has been on all channels speculating as to why she would do such a thing. I can’t imagine why people would be spending hours of television time speculating as to why. Money? A book deal? Well she already had a … Read entire article »

Global Governance
“You have no notion of the intrigue that goes on in this blessed world of science,” wrote Thomas Huxley. “Science is, I fear, no purer than any other region of human activity; though it should be.” As “Darwin’s bulldog,” Huxley would himself engage in intrigue, deceit and intellectual property theft to make his master’s theory gospel truth in Great Britain. When I open up a Science textbook for my children each year, there is usually a chapter about bias. I think this has opened my children’s minds that in everything “Science” there seems to be a leaning towards a belief. Never have we seen this blatantly practiced more and more than into today’s world. When scientists and politicians get together, it will do a person, a country, or any entity good, to weigh … Read entire article »

Get Your Led Out
