Yesterday, Lisa took Alejandra and I on a tour of the Naval Academy. It had been ages since I had been there, so it was like learning about it all over again for me.
Before we crossed the Naval Academy bridge, we had a stop on the scenic overlook. (Click on the image for larger view)
We had a noisy entrance the the Naval Academy as canons had been set off for a salute to an Admiral that has passed away.

We had a quiet 4th of July this year.
We had some tennis watching time, swimming, and cookout. Alejandra and Miquel played tennis. After that, a good American tradition over a fire, Smores.

This past Saturday, we were invited to Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis to say good-bye to Elisabeth, who is off to work and study in Wisconsin. She has been wonderful to have in our home. She will be missed.

Silas had never been to the movie theater yet, and with the new Winnie the Pooh movie, I just HAD to take him!
You see, Silas and I have spent a lot of time watching the old Winnie the Pooh movies. They are so charming and so dear, often if the movies are running, it captivates any and all adults within the radius of the movie player. They are truly sweet: Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree, the Blustery Day, ... Read More

It was another beautiful day, and for her last outing, I decided to take Georgie to Annapolis.
Then we decided to take a Harbor Cruise! Yet something else I had never done!
Once on the boat, we got to see the Naval Academy, the Bridges over the Severn, and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.
It was a very windy day, a good day for sailing in Annapolis.
Halloween isn't a big deal in Australia, so Georgie enjoyed the houses that decorated for the day.

Today the good weather took Laura and I to the B&A Trail. It seems like forever that we had been there.
The trail has about an 8-foot wide paved surface and is in good condition. The total length is 13 miles between Annapolis and Glen Burnie, MD. Once you reach the northern terminus, a short connector path will take you over to the recently completed BWI Trail.
The southern half of the trail cuts through some nice suburban ... Read More

From the Wall Street Journal:
Maryland couldn't balance its budget last year, so the state tried to close the shortfall by fleecing the wealthy. Politicians in Annapolis created a millionaire tax bracket, raising the top marginal income-tax rate to 6.25%. And because cities such as Baltimore and Bethesda also impose income taxes, the state-local tax rate can go as high as 9.45%. Governor Martin O'Malley, a dedicated class warrior, declared that these richest 0.3% of filers were "willing and able to ... Read More

Each year the Blue Angels come to Annapolis. The first time I saw them was unexpected and almost scary! |A few times back now, it's just a thrill to see what it is they can do. This was my first time though with my new Canon camera using the 70-300mm lens.
There isn't much I can say about their presentation, I will let the pictures speak for themselves...
One thing that I can say, is that it's very inspiring to watch the ... Read More

Annapolis is the capital of Maryland and a very pretty and historic city. We decided to go for a look. John enjoyed all of the buildings, brick work, and even some maple pecan fudge. :)

My son and his wife have graced us with a sweet visit before they go off back to Northland Baptist Bible College.
Yesterday we went to Annapolis to just casually walk around. We looked at the shops, had some smoothies at Ben & Jerry's, and went to the Harbor to see the boats and water.
We also came home with one Tin Whistle from the Celtic shop, and one Wish Pearl Necklace.
A wish Pearl is all pearl. Whereas the inner core or ... Read More

We had a very sweet July 4th. The weather was sunny and great, the pool water was not too cold, and my sister and her husband came (fixed the bathroom fixtures, which was very nice!) and we had a cook out; all the usual, grilled barbecue chicken, hamburgers, corn on the cob, macaroni salad, and yummy chocolate chip cookie bars for dessert.
Then we decided to go to watch the fireworks with Shelby and Lisa. It was a beautiful and perfect ... Read More
