Back to the B&A Trail

Back to the B&A Trail

Today the good weather took Laura and I to the B&A Trail. It seems like forever that we had been there. The trail has about an 8-foot wide paved surface and is in good condition. The total length is 13 miles between Annapolis and Glen Burnie, MD. Once you reach the northern terminus, a short connector path will take you over to the recently completed BWI Trail. The southern half of the trail … Read entire article »

Missing: Maryland’s Millionaires

From the Wall Street Journal: Maryland couldn’t balance its budget last year, so the state tried to close the shortfall by fleecing the wealthy. Politicians in Annapolis created a millionaire tax bracket, raising the top marginal income-tax rate to 6.25%. And because cities such as Baltimore and Bethesda also impose income taxes, the state-local tax rate can go as high as 9.45%. Governor Martin O’Malley, a dedicated class warrior, declared that these richest 0.3% of filers were “willing and able to pay their fair share.” The Baltimore Sun predicted the rich would “grin and bear it.” One year later, nobody’s grinning. One-third of the millionaires have disappeared from Maryland tax rolls. In 2008 roughly 3,000 million-dollar income tax returns were filed by the end of April. This year there were 2,000, which … Read entire article »

Blue Angels!

Blue Angels!

Each year the Blue Angels come to Annapolis. The first time I saw them was unexpected and almost scary! |A few times back now, it’s just a thrill to see what it is they can do. This was my first time though with my new Canon camera using the 70-300mm lens. There isn’t much I can say about their presentation, I will let the pictures speak for themselves… One thing that I can say, is that it’s … Read entire article »

Annapolis

Annapolis

Annapolis is the capital of Maryland and a very pretty and historic city. We decided to go for a look. John enjoyed all of the buildings, brick work, and even some maple pecan fudge. In 1694, soon after the overthrow of the Catholic government of the lord proprietor, Sir Francis Nicholson moved the capital of the royal colony there and named the town Annapolis after Princess Anne, soon to be the Queen of Great … Read entire article »

Enric & Miranda visit: Annapolis

Enric & Miranda visit: Annapolis

My son and his wife have graced us with a sweet visit before they go off back to Northland Baptist Bible College. Yesterday we went to Annapolis to just casually walk around. We looked at the shops, had some smoothies at Ben & Jerry’s, and went to the Harbor to see the boats and water. We also came home with one Tin Whistle from the Celtic shop, and one Wish Pearl Necklace. A wish Pearl is all pearl. … Read entire article »

Our Independence Day

Our Independence Day

We had a very sweet July 4th. The weather was sunny and great, the pool water was not too cold, and my sister and her husband came (fixed the bathroom fixtures, which was very nice!) and we had a cook out; all the usual, grilled barbecue chicken, hamburgers, corn on the cob, macaroni salad, and yummy chocolate chip cookie bars for dessert. Then we decided to go to watch the fireworks with Shelby and Lisa. It … Read entire article »
