Changes
Change is a part of life…. The man who looks for security, even in the mind, is like a man who would chop off his limbs in order to have artificial ones which will give him no pain or trouble. ~Henry Miller Change is inevitable – except from a vending machine. ~Robert C. Gallagher If you’re in a bad situation, don’t worry it’ll change. If you’re in a good situation, don’t worry it’ll change. ~John A. Simone, Sr. There is a certain relief in change, even though it be from bad to worse! As I have often found in travelling in a stagecoach, that it is often a comfort to shift one’s position, and be bruised in a new place. ~Washington Irving He who rejects change is the architect of decay. The only human … Read entire article »

The Young and the Jobless
In the news, we keep getting updates on how unemployment rates are going up and up. One thing you might not be noticing is the figures for young people. The September teen unemployment rate hit 25.9% the highest rate since World War II and up from 23.8% in July. Some 330,000 teen jobs have vanished in two months. Hardest hit of all: black male teens whose unemployment rate shot up to a catastrophic 50.4% It was merely a terrible 39.2% in July. Of course one place to put the blame is the bad economy, but the Wall Street Journal goes as far as to blame the Congress for raising the minimum wage. But it’s precisely when the economy is down and businesses are slashing costs that raising the minimum wage is so destructive … Read entire article »

Back to the Future
Clinton Retreads? A little over a year ago, one of the candidates for President said, “The real gamble in this election is playing the same Washington game with the same Washington players and expecting a different result.” So far, President-elect Obama has announced (or leaked) the following appointments: Rahm Emanuel, former Clinton White House senior advisor, to be Chief of Staff. John Podesta, former Clinton White House Chief of Staff, as head of transition team (and who knows what thereafter). Eric Holder, former Clinton administration Deputy Attorney General, as Attorney General. Gregory Craig, former Clinton White House special counsel, as White House Counsel. Tom Daschle, former Senate Majority Leader, as Secretary of Health and Human Services. Arizona Governor and former U.S. Attorney (Clinton appointee) Janet Napolitano as Secretary of Homeland Security. Based on a variety of news reports, the … Read entire article »

CHANGE Languages?
Obama, our little CHANGE candidate. I think he is going too far in the following video, insisting people learn Spanish. This is the United States of America, the English settled here, we speak the American form of English. That’s it. Now don’t get me wrong. I like learning languages. I can in fact, speak and understand three languages. But I also recognize that this is a gift I have. I wouldn’t expect others to just be able to do it that easily. Obama saying everyone should learn Spanish is like me saying, everyone should paint with watercolors, write in blogs, make a mean potato omlette, and do photography like I do. I think that is CHANGE going too far. … Read entire article »

To Decline or Not to Decline
On this 4th of July weekend, and carrying over from my post yesterday, perhaps an email I received from Bill O’Reilly answers my question, why would we change, and WHAT would we change? Here is some of what his email says: A Nation in Decline? By Bill O’Reilly Just in time for Independence Day, the bible of the American left, the New York Times, continues to opine that the United States is a “nation in decline.” Hoping to see a Democrat in the White House, the newspaper has been hammering home that theme on its editorial pages. The Times bases its claims on two primary situations: The negative view of America abroad, and income inequality at home. So let’s take a look at the supposed “decline.” Overseas, the world is largely a mess. Africa remains a … Read entire article »

No “Change” from our Freedoms, Please
As we have a candidate screaming “change” from every rooftop, the following that Joe sent me truly begs to ponder how much “change” do we really need? by By Craig R. Smith The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy with the direction the country is headed and 69 percent of the country is unhappy with the performance of the president. In essence 2/3s of the citizenry just ain’t happy and want a change. Is … Read entire article »

Obama and Rev. “Wrong”
I guess I have been waiting to blog about this subject for awhile now. Seemed to make sense to at least WAIT and give Mr. Barak Obama a chance to explain, and give him the benefit of the doubt till as such time as he could. Yesterday he did give a speech on the actions, words, and principles of his church’s minister (among other subjects), and I am convinced that the presidency does not belong to Obama. He lied to the people when he said he wasn’t in church on the days that his minister gave such controversial sermons, and basically said so on yesterday’s “come clean” speech. When the videos of Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s sermons were first aired, Obama did his best to disassociate himself with what was being said. It’s hard to … Read entire article »

Killer Wants State to Pay for His Sex-change Surgery
If you live in Massachusetts, and you are concerned or curious about where your tax dollars are going, be alerted that your money could pay for Robert Kosilek’s, a man convicted to life in prison for murdering his wife, sex change operation. This man [or whatever] wrapped a wire around his wife’s neck three times and strangled her, dumped her in the back of car, and left her at a mall. Even though the state hasn’t moved yet on the operation, it has gone way beyond, in my opinion, what it should: ‘A state judge ruled earlier that Kosilek is entitled to treatment for a condition called “gender identity disorder,” and the court granted the 57-year old Kosilek the right to have the state pay for his female hormone treatments and laser hair removal. Kosilek claims … Read entire article »

Too Much Information?
We have all used the phrase from time to time when someone has finished telling us the details of something, sometimes personal, that perhaps we didn’t want to hear. However, I just finished reading an article by Hal Lindsey that takes a different approach. You remember Hal Lindsey? He was rather popular in the 70’s with his books on Bible prophecy. Now in this article he doesn’t give background to his claims, but giving him the benefit of any doubt, it made for some interesting reading. He opens that he was born during the depression, and says he has seen changes in our country over time, but says, now the rate of change is just so much faster. I can agree that keeping up with one day of news can lead me … Read entire article »

Fairness Doctrine
I know I have already blogged on this crucial subject on the "Fairness Doctrine ," but on important subjects, I don’t think re-examining the issue is out of line. It was an article in CNN.Money of all places where it really got me to thinking. It said: "When a conservative appears on talk radio, liberals cry for the Fairness Doctrine. Seventy-five free hours for Archbishop Gore’s Church of Climate Change? Not a peep." It’s true. I mean what should be an issue for reasonable examination, has been turned into a politics. Under the so called "fairness doctrine" would Live Earth have been possible? I sincerely doubt that they would have given the same block of free time to the respected and just as educated scientists who feel a little differently to the Global Warming … Read entire article »

“Green” Also Means Money
The day after Live Earth, I read my daughter’s science book on the “global warming” theory and scanned news articles, which a few were revealing about the MONEY some of the headliners and people associated with Live Earth make and made. For instance, Live Earth Participant, FoxNews says about Madonna: Madonna, who seems to be on top of all her many business endeavors, has actually invested about $2.7 million dollars in companies that are creating the destruction that Live Earth is trying to raise awareness about. She has invested in several companies named as the biggest corporate polluters in the world. It’s a cruel irony that Madonna’s Ray of Light Foundation owns blocks of shares in companies that folks like Al Gore and Leonardo DiCaprio would like to see punished and rehabilitated for their attitudes toward global warming, … Read entire article »

“Are you ready to change the way that you live?”
Supposedly, this is a quote from Al Gore’s movie, “An Inconvenient Truth” Now, I am not saying that we shouldn’t change, but what hit me odd was the report on the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works article, that when Al Gore was ask the same question and presented with an Oath to do so, he refused. Here is the Oath As a believer: · that human-caused global warming is a moral, ethical, and spiritual issue affecting our survival; · that home energy use is a key component of overall energy use; · that reducing my fossil fuel-based home energy usage will lead to lower greenhouse gas emissions; and · that leaders on moral issues should lead by example; I pledge to consume no more energy for use in my residence than the average American household by March 21, … Read entire article »

Prince Charles
Prince Charles will be visiting the U.S. next week, a tour of sort, and he seems to have a lot to say to us. Now I know the U.S. and England are allies for the most part, but looking at some of his reasons for touring the U.S., led me to do some research; curious while he seems to be here to help us “fix” our problems, and adjust our “attitudes” on a few things, I wondered what was the state in HIS nation on these same issues and find some descrepencies in his logic. One item he would like to discuss is how he finds the climate change terrifying. Now I realize that scientists disagree if there actually IS global warming, but generally those who DO, often mention pollution as its … Read entire article »
