Posted By Xerraire On Sunday, April 18th 2010 In Personal | Tags: computer, desktop, hp, new |
My New Baby I called my old desktop computer purchased about 8 years ago, Mathilda. She was a workhorse and still hangs in there for the most part, but it was time for a new one. This one could be called Greased Lightning! 8 Gigs of Ram! This desktop features a double-layer DVD±R/CD-RW drive with LightScribe technology for creating customized DVDs and CDs with a quality on-disc label. The built-in wireless LAN allows you to connect to the Internet without wires. SPECS Product Features AMD ... Read More

A Candid Moment with Computer Problems

A Candid Moment with Computer Problems Going through my old photos, I found this photo taken of me long ago. Obviously I was in the middle of some computer issues. What a blast from the past, as if I remember right, this my very FIRST computer, a Packard Bell 486 Windows 3.11.  Does anyone remember this dinosaur? On the larger original image, I can see I was in DOS. I would call the phone a dinosaur too, except my mom still uses hers. ... Read More

Free Attorney’s Advice

Free Attorney’s Advice Some useful advice that came to my inbox from Linda and George: 1.    Do not sign  the back of your credit cards.   Instead, put 'PHOTO  ID REQUIRED.' 2.   When you are writing checks to pay on your credit card accounts,  DO NOT  put the complete account number on the 'For' line.   Instead, just put the last  four numbers.  The credit card company knows the rest of the number, and anyone who might be handling your check as it passes through all the check ... Read More

Computer Rage

Posted By Xerraire On Tuesday, August 26th 2008 In General | Tags: Add new tag, computer, internet, rage, safety, teens |
Computer Rage You've heard of road rage. How about computer rage? Apparently a 15 year old Florida boy became so enraged over a change in computer priviledges, he attacked his mom and younger sibling. He chased his mom with a knife and hit his brother with a sugar cane. He has been taken into custody.   Now before you take it lightly, here are some guidelines from Howard County Maryland for Parents and Teens reguarding computers and the internet, that seem quite sane ... Read More

Eek, No Mouse!

Posted By Xerraire On Saturday, July 19th 2008 In General | Tags: computer, demise, mouse |
Eek, No Mouse! Did you know the computer mouse is 40 years old? I had no idea, and there are some experts out there predicting its demise. Perhaps in the next 5 years. Influenced by some video games, they feel that the computer mouse is no longer needed. Taking over will be so called gestural computer mechanisms like touch screens and facial recognition devices. "The mouse works fine in the desktop environment but for home entertainment or working on a notebook it's over," declared analyst Steve ... Read More

New Toy

Posted By Xerraire On Sunday, April 13th 2008 In Personal | Tags: computer, dual-core, hp, laptop, new |
New Toy My desktop PC is 5 years old. It's not running 100%, but it has been very good to me and I still love it. However, since a lot of what I do with running my sites, web & graphic design, homeschooling, photography, communications involves my computer, I felt it was time to get a new one before the old one potentially dies on me.  Since these days they make laptops as powerful as desktops, I decided to get a laptop. So, here is ... Read More
