After Election Thoughts
What to watch out for: There is much at stake, and the battles on the horizon are myriad. Just in the next year conservatives will face a number of key challenges: 1. The censors want to silence conservative talk radio with the (un)fairness doctrine. 2. The unions want their card check mandates in order to do away with the secret ballot at the workplace. 3. The central planners will try to persuade the American people that it is the Federal Treasury—and not individual initiative—that creates wealth. 4. The socialists want to nationalize to one extent or another virtually every industry in the country and redistribute wealth. 5. The judicial activists want to bend the meaning of the Constitution to suit their radical agenda. In addition, the Bush tax cuts are … Read entire article »

Any REAL Journalists Out there Anymore?
Wasn’t last night debates BORING? I was excited about it as I learned it was a town hall forum. Then I heard the “big newsman” got to filter all the questions. Then I knew, it was lost. First of all to say, I love blogging. I know that I had to be pushed into it, but once I got into it, I really started to love it. I was aware that when I started that there would be a certain element of posting stories the mainstream media wouldn’t. I don’t like politics and I don’t like politicians, but if the newspapers and news would just do their JOB, us in the blogsphere could relax a bit. Never did I realize the blantant slants and the overall inability to see that the truth … Read entire article »

Election Sleaze in O-Hi-O
Democrat Barack Obama’s presidential campaign blitzed bars and advocates for the homeless have lined up vans to ferry potential voters from shelters. The prize could be thousands of traditionally elusive voters in hard-fought Ohio who would have the chance to register and vote on the same day — if the courts don’t intervene. Grab people from homeless shelters to vote??? Do they buy them a sandwich too? So here is what is happening today. People are showing up to register and vote. There is no affirmative evidence that these people have not registered or voted somewhere else. There is no control. Normally in an election, partisan election monitors are allowed into polling places so that they can police each other. But not in two counties, Franklin and Montgomery, in Ohio. Brunner also issued … Read entire article »

ACORN: Vote Early, Vote Often?
In Vegas: State authorities on Tuesday raided an organization that registers low-income people to vote, alleging that its canvassers falsified forms with bogus names, fake addresses or famous personalities. The secretary of state’s office launched an investigation after noticing that names did not match addresses and that most members of the Dallas Cowboys appeared to be registering in Nevada to vote in November’s general election. “Some of these (forms) were facially fraudulent; we basically had the starting lineup for the Dallas Cowboys,” Secretary of State Ross Miller said. “Tony Romo is not registered to vote in Nevada. Anyone trying to pose as Terrell Owens won’t be able to cast a ballot.” Agents with the secretary of state and state attorney general offices served a search warrant on the headquarters of the Association of … Read entire article »

Stoke Fear
People who know me well, know that I believe in one race – the human race. I believe that we can all trace our ancestry back to Noah, and before that Adam and Eve. Ok, so after the tower of Babel we dispersed, moved to other parts of the globe where changes of skin coloring took place. Big deal. I can appreciate the differences. If all the flowers were the same color, how boring would that be? With that said, I get a little angry when I see headlines like, "Obama says Republicans will use race to stoke fear ." That’s funny. The only ones mentioning race for the most part are Obama’s minister, church, and the affiliates to the church. The article goes on to speak of division, again, I must point any blame … Read entire article »

Rock the Vote
Last night I was one of the millions who watched the Finale of American Idol. At the end of a very entertaining two hours, they announced the number of people who had voted between David Cook and David Archuleta – Nearly 100 million people voted. I couldn’t help but think how only a few less than the 120 million people who voted for president in 2004! As much as I have enjoyed American Idol, I think that says something about our nation. When you have near as many people voting for a singing contest as you do for president, there is something wrong. Don’t get me wrong, I am glad people cheered on their favorite singer, we all need some fun downtime, but we are also supposed to CARE who leads our nation. My favorite … Read entire article »

Obama vs. Clinton
I sure had to, for once, appreciate Hillary’s break from “misstatements” when she reacted to Obama’s latest blunder. He spoke recently to a people in Pennsylvania, whose unemployment rate is around what the national average is (4.9%) and tried to tell them how unhappy they are: Obama touched off the controversy with his remarks at a closed San Francisco fundraiser earlier in the week. The remarks became public on Friday. “You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them,” Obama said. “And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as … Read entire article »

Outsiders View
Having friends all around the world, it’s often interesting to hear how they view things about what goes on here. Namely, the topic of some discussion has been our elections. I had to chuckle when Petra (from Holland) sat down at the dinner table recently and stated, “If Hillary or Obama wins to be president, this country is in deep trouble.” Well she got a lot of nods of agreement. But we all agreed, Petra included, that the funniest statement … Read entire article »
I Voted
Today was election day in the U.S. Each year, more and more, it seems to be about voting for what seems to be the lesser of the evils, and my whole heart wasn’t truly in it, but I did vote. Along with candidates who are less than appealing, are the credibility of the voting machines and the tactics of some others . Too many stories (one just this morning on C-Span) have been told from those who admittedly tried to fool the system and got away with it. This has been a particularly aggressive year, perhaps you know what I mean… Did your phone ring at your house, literally off of the hook with recordings from each candidate? Did ugly billboards with strange names litter your roadside and horizon? One news I thought was … Read entire article »
