Tanning Beds NO but HPV Vaccine is OK

Posted By Xerraire On Monday, October 10th 2011 In News Items | Tags: banned, beds, california, girls, hpv vaccine, jerry brown, std, tanning, teens |
Tanning Beds NO but HPV Vaccine is OK There are a few new laws, in regards to young people, coming out of California, that puzzle me. Recently, it has been made illegal, under the age of 18, to use a tanning bed. Now, even though I would not allow my daughter to use a tanning bed, not sure I want my government dictating it to her. You could make the argument that some parents my not have my cautious nature with their children, and praise Jerry Brown for his ... Read More

Daddys Girls

Posted By Xerraire On Monday, February 28th 2011 In Personal | Tags: broken, collage, dad, girls, photo, scans |
Daddys Girls Long ago, I gave my dad a photo collage of photos for Christmas. I made the theme to be "Daddy's Girls." If I recall, he really liked it, and it hung in the living room for years. For a long while now, it got moved to the basement. A few days ago, I don't know what happened, but the glass, photos, and three sides of the frame just gave up the ghost, and it all collapsed to the floor. So I thought ... Read More

Gold Medals, Beer, Champagne, Cigars, Condoms

Posted By Xerraire On Saturday, February 27th 2010 In News Items | Tags: Beer, canadian, champagne, Cigars, condoms, girls, Gold Medals, team |
Gold Medals, Beer, Champagne, Cigars, Condoms Somehow, the following doesn't meet my image of an Olympic Athlete: Drinking beer, champagne, and smoking cigars celebrating a win in plain view. I don't know what was the message here... Canada's top Olympic official sees no reason to put a damper on the women's hockey team's beer-swigging, cigar-smoking celebration of its gold-medal victory over the U.S. team. In Whistler and Vancouver, Olympic sentiment largely supported the players who went back onto the ice for an impromptu party ... Read More

Jon Stewart Blasts Mainstream Media

Posted By Xerraire On Thursday, September 17th 2009 In News Items | Tags: ACORN, fox news, girls, jon stewart, mainstream media, O'Reilly, prostitutes, underage girls, you tube, YouTube |
Jon Stewart Blasts Mainstream Media If you have been paying attention at all, you know that basically a couple of amateurs went undercover and exposed a lot of dirt on ACORN, to the point that the House has voted to defund the organization. Nevermind that it is already well known that ACORN engaged in conspiracy to get Democrats elected by any means necessary, using registration drives partially funded by taxpayers and the Obama campaign to enroll nonexistent and ineligible voters. Its members have been indicted ... Read More

John’s First Day

Posted By Xerraire On Saturday, April 11th 2009 In Personal | Tags: fort, girls, john dolphin, sleepover, squirrel |
John’s First Day The first day of John's holiday began with rain, so we took it slow, which made sense after so many hours of travel. (About 30+ hours in all). Before he turned in last night, we had our usual chaos in the house, with Laura and Jenny making a "fort" to sleep in. John couldn't resist a photo. Today, with the rain pouring down, it became a time of watching the birds, taking photos, and I grabbed a photo of John having a ... Read More

Granite Girls Soccer As you already know, Laura has been playing for Granite on their girl's soccer team. Naturally I have taken this as yet another fun photography opportunity. This has been a challenge. I was used to taking photos of Miquel's tennis, but soccer was a whole other matter.   The team has worked hard and are having a good season. 65 Girls At Area School Pregnant

Posted By Xerraire On Tuesday, August 23rd 2005 In News Items | Tags: girls, ohio, pregnant, school, young |
65 Girls At Area School Pregnant It might be starting to sound like I am really 'down' on the system we have here in the US. I suppose I am. I KNOW that it is one of the many reasons I decided to homeschool. It seems that in one Ohio school, where they have 490 female students, 65 of them are pregnant! That is an amazingly outrageous ratio. I think when I was in high school, we had 'one girl who got in trouble' and chose to ... Read More

Listening to…Gilmore Girls!

Listening to…Gilmore Girls! I am nuts about this show. At 5 pm each day, all activity in my home comes to a halt. Miquel teases me as sometimes I insist we squeeze our summer classes between General Hospital and Gilmore Girls. Like everything else, I missed this show when it first came out, so am watching the reruns in the afternoons. I am not sure which season I am in, but well on my wish list is the DVD's of all the seasons. The ... Read More

Out to Lunch & Bowling

Out to Lunch & Bowling Did something today I don't normally get to do; had an all girls lunch out. Chrissy invited Petra and I to the Olive Tree where we all had soup, salad, breadsticks, and lots of delicious coffee. It was nice to sit with friends and chatter about anything and everything, as women do. It was good to finally do the lunch thing out, Chris and I had been planning it for awhile now. Later, Petra and I took Laura and Miquel ... Read More
