When I Go

This is a live version of something Beth Ellen shared with me today. Loved the version she sent me, but here it goes, When I Go by Over The Rhine. it makes a difference when you walk through a room with that worrisome smile road weary perfume but this isn’t the place and it isn’t the time for this beautiful delusion that is robbing me blind i want to know i want to know will it make a difference when i go it makes a difference that i’m feeling this way with plenty to think about and so little to say except for this confession that is poised on my lips i’m not letting go of God I’m just losing my grip i want to know i want to know will it keep you guessing when i go what is a love if the love’s not my own this is not my home this is lonely but never alone i … Read entire article »

Time, He’s Coming to an End

A rare video of Phil Keaggy with his song, Time, which has thought-provoking lyrics. Well He hasn’t always been around And He won’t always be. But He’s on the move at this moment Measuring life for you and me. I fear we all submit to him Existing anxiously, And no one is able to turn him off Except the Lord who holds the key. When the Lord stops him, that’ll be it, Too late for apologies. Too late to forgive your brother, Too late to get on your knees. When the Lord stops him, that’ll be it, Too late to help the needy And worst of all it’s too late to turn You must face eternity. His name is Time and he’s coming to an end. His name is Time where will you be my friend? His name is Time and he’s coming to an end. His name is Time where will … Read entire article »

New Project

Us web designers just can’t seem to get off the net. Our creative minds are always looking for something else to do. I have always wanted to do a lyrics site but didn’t have any idea how to make it work. On my photo blog, I started adding lyrics to the photos and saw in my stats how it was attracting a few people there, looking up the words to songs. So that led me to think I could do a Lyrics Blog, and proceded to expand on that idea. So, the new project is still in it’s first stage, but, it’s been fun already.   Visit: Barb’s Lyrics Blog   I am not totally convinced of that layout nor how to put the artists in order, so any feedback would be great!       … Read entire article »

A New Day for You

Someone out there wishes better things for me. How comforting to know. I was told by this person to look up Basia’s “A New Day for You” and to pay close attention to the lyrics. I thought I’d share them on my blog: Hello again —it’s me Your shoulder’s where I sit The half, nobody sees,of a silent partnership I am here—your help at hand I’m never far away A clear view from where I stand I’ll be there if you need me I am your helping hand My words—you’ve heard them all before It’s only for the sake of love It’s gonna be a new day for you A new day for you The stars have played their part The past is gone and done Have more faith in love The best is yet to come So what is this I here you deserve a break Take time to think … Read entire article »

Grey Sky Morning

Continuing on American Idol…Bucky just sang my mood…. "Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning)" So you sailed away Into a grey sky morning Now I’m here to stay Love can be so boring Nothing’s quite the same now I just say your name now [Chorus] But it’s not so bad You’re only the best I ever had You don’t want me back You’re just the best I ever had So you stole my world Now I’m just a phony Remembering the girl Leaves me down and lonely Send it in a letter Make yourself feel better [Chorus] But it’s not so bad You’re only the best I ever had You don’t need me back You’re just the best I ever had And it may take some time to Patch me up inside But I can’t take it so I Run away and hide And I may find in time that You were always right You’re always right So you sailed … Read entire article »

Making Memories of Us

I’ve been watching a lot of this season’s “American Idol” There is a lot of talent this year, and I don’t know if I could really choose. Chris, so far, has been our family favorite. Last night, he owned me with these lyrics: Making Memories of Us I’m gonna be here for you baby I’ll be a man of my word Speak the language in a voice that you have never heard I wanna sleep with you forever And I wanna die in your arms In a cabin by a meadow where the wild bees swarm And I’m gonna love you like nobody loves you And I’ll earn your trust making memories of us I wanna honor your mother I wanna learn from your pa I wanna steal your attention like a bad outlaw I wanna stand out in a crowd for you A man among men I … Read entire article »

Take the Wheel

Take the Wheel

This is my first year watching American Idol, I have enjoyed it tremendously. My children tell me that this year there is a lot of talent. I agree, although I think we already have our favorites picked out. The last episode of American Idol had an extra treat, an appearance from the winner of last year. I am not a huge fan of the country sound, but as most know, I can and do listen … Read entire article »

What if I Stumble?

My favorite DC TALK song… [the greatest single cause of atheism in the world today Is christians who acknowledge jesus with their lips Then walk out the door and deny him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable.] What if I stumble? What if I fall? Is this one for the people? Is this one for the lord? Or do I simply serenade for things I must afford? You can jumble them together, my conflict still remains Holiness is calling, in the midst of courting fame Cause I see the trust in their eyes Though the sky is falling They need your love in their lives Compromise is calling (chorus) What if I stumble, what if I fall? What if I lose my step and I make fools of us all? Will the love continue when my walk becomes a crawl? What if I stumble, … Read entire article »

Such Great Heights

Such Great Heights

Ever hear a song that tugs at your heart and makes all your emotions rise in such a very confusing way? One of my favorites is Such Great Heights. I like the version by Iron and Wine, perhaps you’ve heard it, oddly enough, on the M&M’s commercial. (I like M&M’s too) Such Great Heights I am thinking it’s a sign that the freckles in our eyes are mirror images and when we kiss they’re perfectly aligned and I have … Read entire article »

Dragostea Din Tei

Dragostea Din Tei + one goofball is proof that sometimes the computer and high speed internet can be dangerous in the hands of children. The first time I heard this song, well I just almost didn’t hear it, over the giggles of my children watching a silly video with this fellow mouthing the words of this song into his web cam. I am going to be the first to admit, after hearing it a few times, that this thing is very catchy. Always cautious, I decided to look up the meaning. Apparently translation isn’t easy, even in the title: According to Wikipedia: “Dragostea Din Tei is written in Romanian and the title is not easy to translate efficiently due to the ambiguous translation of Din and lack of context for the phrase. There are several … Read entire article »

Since more and more come to this blog looking for the lyrics to “Home Among the Gum Trees” I thought I better not disappoint! Here the lyrics are: Give me a home among the gum trees With lots of plum trees A sheep or two A kangaroo A clothesline out the back Verandah out the front And an old rocking chair You’ll see me in the kitchen Cooking up a roast Vegemite on toast Just you and me And a cup of tea And when my friends will ask me The place that I adore I’ll tell you right away.
