A special Christmas moment was seeing her all dressed up for our Christmas Eve Service at church.
We escaped for a little while to take a walk around the empty halls, but as soon as someone came around and said hello, Rubí was sure to show off her new attire. She's such a girl!

Our church recently got a new roof.
Now I don't think there is anything wrong with reconizing the effort that went into the new roof. However in today's church bulletin, I couldn't help a few giggles at the printed list:
$135,000 - in savings to the church
67 "holy souls" (Volunteers)
24 "holey souls"
21 meals provided
130 sheets of plywood
$25,000 in donated materials
1,480 hours of labor
15,000 sq. ft. of underlayment
140 meatballs
19,000 sq. ft. of sheet metal
720 cold cups
45 gallons of Gatorade
160 pieces of chicken
17 watermelons ... Read More

Ok, I have to sneak in a movie I like once in a while, so I made this movie part of our study of the French Revolution. Interestingly enough, the term, "New World Order" was used in the movie, the same as spoken in the recent G20 Summit.
The Plot:
In 1792, during the bloodthirsty, early stages of the French Revolution, Marguerite St. Just, a beautiful French ex-actress, is the wife of the wealthy English fop Sir Percy Blakeney, a baronet. Before ... Read More
While here in Maryland, we are going through some hot and sticky summer days, it was curious to read the next climate change prediction out of Mexico :
An expert from the National Autonomous University of Mexico predicted that in about ten years the Earth will enter a "little ice age" which will last from 60 to 80 years and may be caused by the decrease in solar activity.
Maybe that explains why in New Zealand, ski resorts are claiming their largest ... Read More

My friend Jeff has launched a new site, Drive Free for Life. On the site he introduces the "free gas" calculator. This tool shows consumers how they can fight back against high gas prices — and even fill their tank year-round for free!
The free gas calculator is also available HERE
DriveFreeForLife is a consumer resource that teaches thousands to think differently about rising fuel prices, with tools and advice that helps people not only survive, but thrive in this era of high oil prices.

The Nokia888
You dont have to carry it in your pocket or on your wrist. You can carry it anywhere, in anyform. You can roll it, bend it, put on your clothes like a clip. It also makes some form changes that makes it more ergonomical: i.e. when you want to talk on the phone, the body form turns into the form of the good old telephone.
It uses liquid battery, speech recognition, flexible touch screen, touch sensitive body cover which lets ... Read More

My desktop PC is 5 years old. It's not running 100%, but it has been very good to me and I still love it.
However, since a lot of what I do with running my sites, web & graphic design, homeschooling, photography, communications involves my computer, I felt it was time to get a new one before the old one potentially dies on me.
Since these days they make laptops as powerful as desktops, I decided to get a laptop.
So, here is ... Read More

As if Maryland so close to Washington D.C. doesn't give us an
odd set of neighbors as it is, enter Michael Jackson looking for
a new home.
Apparently in his hunt for a vacation home, he is looking around the
eastern shore of Maryland, in the Chesapeake Bay region.
Reports have been circulating that Jackson looked at property in the
17th century waterfront town of St. Michaels , a picturesque village
that I have heard is quite lovely.
I don't know, I just think Maryland has enough freaks ... Read More

Since spending money isn't easy for me, any new purchase is usually an agonizing process. (Not your typical woman, eh?)
Combined with the purchase, is that it is something that I have little knowledge and understanding of, other than I knew I needed one, the process became even harder.
So, after quite a few weeks of learning what it was I needed and didn't need, I walked into Cingular at Marley Station Mall, and bought my new cell phone. My salesgirl was ... Read More

Still reading the book 90 Minutes in Heaven: A True Story of Death and Life
Due to the author's bad accident and injuries he had to adjust. He couldn't do the things he used to do before.
It made me think that in my own life, I have had to experience a "new kind of normal."
He writes:
"Once that idea got through to me, I decided I couldn't recapture the past. No matter how much I tried to idealize it, that part of my ... Read More
