Politics and Science
Imagine that there is a new scientific theory that warns of an impending crisis, and points to a way out. This theory quickly draws support from leading scientists, politicians and celebrities around the world. Research is funded by distinguished philanthropies, and carried out at prestigious universities. The crisis is reported frequently in the media. The science is taught in college and high school classrooms. Sounds like global warming, doesn’t it? Actually the … Read entire article »

Barack Obama threatens to withdraw support from wavering Democrats
I question things, especially our leaders, and here is one I had to ask myself. Obama promised bipartisanship on the campaign trail. I didn’t believe it then and it doesn’t look very good so far for keeping his promise. But how believable can he be, when he threatens his own party when they don’t agree with him on everything? From the Telegraph: Barack Obama threatens to withdraw support from wavering Democrats Barack Obama has said he will not campaign for any Democratic congressmen who fails to support health care reform. The president will refuse to make fund-raising visits during November elections to any district whose representative has not backed the bill. A one-night presidential appearance can bring in hundreds of thousands of dollars in funds which would otherwise take months to accumulate … Read entire article »

Obama’s Bid Rejected
According to David Axelrod, “politics” played a key role in the International Olympic Committee’s decision to reject President Obama’s appeal in support of Chicago’s bid to host the 2016 Olympics. Interesting, Axelrod didn’t choose “racism” as the reason, because here at home, if Obama’s policies or plans are rejected – “racism” is the only reason that administration can come up with. However, using “politics” as the reason the bid failed is also interesting and in my opinion, … Read entire article »

Prayer…America’s Hope
“May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you.” Psalm 33:22 Today is the 58th Annual Observance of The National Day of Prayer. At at time with businesses failing, greed and corruption being exposed, people losing their homes, and many losing their jobs, there doesn’t seem a better time to take the time to fall on our knees and turn to our Creator for comfort and guidance. We serve a God for whom nothing is impossible. Consider the people of Nineveh, a cruel and ruthless people whose hearts were far from the Lord and His laws. Despite their depravity God, in His great mercy, sent Jonah to deliver a message of repentance and, ultimately, to bring this violent people to their knees in humility and … Read entire article »

History Lesson, Present Tense?
“Liberty is rendered even more precious by the recollection of servitude.” ~Cicero Laura and I have resumed our regular schedule now that the holidays are truly over. Our history lesson today, to me, read something like our modern times…. “The transformation of Rome from an Italian city-state to the seat of a vast empire created a host of new problems…Before…Most people lived simply and modestly; a Roman “noble” might even do his own plowing. Patriotic citizen soldiers were ready to fight for the honor and glory of the city that gave them freedom and prosperity. But Rome’s successful wars and overseas conquests gradually washed away the foundation of the republic, eroding the old Roman character traits of simplicity, discipline, hard work, and patriotism. The Roman family began to disitegrate as divorce became increasingly … Read entire article »

New Bailout?
Just when you think the newspaper media couldn’t get anymore biased, you see them joining other industries with their hands out, asking the government for money. This is a very bad idea. The media are supposed to be the watchdogs of corruption, not taking money from them. Here’s an idea, newspapers, PRINT THE TRUTH. The people might even buy it, instead of the mindless, brainwashing, birdcage liners you give us now. More HERE … Read entire article »

Spontaneous Order
“Socialism is going to save the world.” I’ve heard that remark made, and couldn’t help but laugh at anyone who would take their FAITH and place it in any government regardless of what it calls itself. Yet in the past election process, we have seen candidates idolized and terms like “save the world” have been said many times. We have seen in examples like Katrina, that government can’t really do much of anything as good as people from the bottom up. Huge numbers of houses remain un-repaired thanks to a bureaucracy that could serve as a plot for a horror movie called “Nightmare on Bourbon Street.” The forms necessary to apply for permits to conduct any repairs or construct new buildings take 10 minutes to explain. As for the houses themselves, “Of the … Read entire article »

Back to the Future
Clinton Retreads? A little over a year ago, one of the candidates for President said, “The real gamble in this election is playing the same Washington game with the same Washington players and expecting a different result.” So far, President-elect Obama has announced (or leaked) the following appointments: Rahm Emanuel, former Clinton White House senior advisor, to be Chief of Staff. John Podesta, former Clinton White House Chief of Staff, as head of transition team (and who knows what thereafter). Eric Holder, former Clinton administration Deputy Attorney General, as Attorney General. Gregory Craig, former Clinton White House special counsel, as White House Counsel. Tom Daschle, former Senate Majority Leader, as Secretary of Health and Human Services. Arizona Governor and former U.S. Attorney (Clinton appointee) Janet Napolitano as Secretary of Homeland Security. Based on a variety of news reports, the … Read entire article »

Wisdom from Aunt Lynn
My Aunt and I likely couldn’t count the hours we have discussed [over the phone and in person ] the Bible, Religions, Politics, Relationships, and all sorts of World Affairs. She asked me to share something on my blog that was from her Sunday School class, especially since we are so close to election time: Christianity should be an attraction to everyone…but it isn’t. Why is that? It is because so many have made Christianity into a “religion”- it is a relationship, but it has been made into a religion by those who don’t know Him. Any religion is bondage. Let’s look at the Pagan religions of the world today and see what is has done to those countries: Look at India. Look at China Look at the Muslim world. Look at South America; a continent … Read entire article »

Religion
There is a certain person, who shall remain nameless, who thinks I should dedicate some blog entries to a ‘controversial’ topic. When I think of something controversial, or topics people seem to avoid so as to not rock the boat, Religion and Politics come to mind. I enjoy discussing both, usually in a one on one format. This blog would be a first. Well today at church the pastor had a few things to say about religion…something I have always felt, but didn’t put into words as well as he did. Backing up for a moment, I have always wondered what to answer to people when they ask me, “what religion are you?” No matter what denomination you answer, depending who they know, or know of in that denomination, they will … Read entire article »
