From One News Now: The Senate is expected to take up the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child. The effort is a dangerous treaty for the family, according to pediatrician Rosemary Stein of Burlington, North Carolina, and a spokesperson for the Christian Medical Association (CMA). “It takes away the parents’ rights to rear their child and gives it to the government,” she explains. “The government becomes the caretaker and the guardian, and the parent becomes the babysitter. Another way to define it would be ‘the government takeover of our children.’” If the contract is enforced, the government would have the right to intercede or supersede if officials believe the parents are doing something that is not in the best interest of the child. From Fox News: House Panel Paves Way for ‘Nuclear Option’ in Health Care Reform Bill A key House committee on Thursday quietly altered its health care legislation in a way that could allow the Senate to mow over Republican opposition to Democratic reforms by exploiting a budgetary loophole. The Ways and Means Committee adjusted its health care overhaul package so that the Senate, down the road, could avoid a filibuster and pass health care reform with a smaller number of votes than normally required. Right now as I right this, peril is at every headline: The Pentagon is deploying warships with anti missile capabilities because of North Korea’s plans to test-fire a long-range ballistic missile capable of striking Alaska. The Post Office is running out of money. The Dollar Drops EU President is sure our new Obama economic policy is the road to hell. Government is laying off workers. Iran continues to be a nuclear threat. Russian arms help Chavez launch guerrilla warfare against USA . Illegal immigrants are in the U.S. taking our JOBS. Unemployment numbers are setting records.
