Imagine that you had an average monthly income of about $170 balanced against average monthly expenses of about $940--and that you were more than $14,000 in debt.
Then imagine that as of today, you had only $58.60 in cash left in your bank account and $130.50 left on your line of credit.
Now multiply these numbers by 1 billion and you will have the up-to-date financial situation of the U.S. government. (CSNNEWS)

If you can't see how our new government is mimicking Venezuela's Hugo Chavez, you're not paying close enough attention. When the government wants control over everything, look out.
From CNBC:
Mountains of rotting food found at a government warehouse, soaring prices and soldiers raiding wholesalers accused of hoarding: Food supply is the latest battle in President Hugo Chavez's socialist revolution.
Venezuelan army soldiers swept through the working class, pro-Chavez neighborhood of Catia in Caracas last week, seizing 120 tons ... Read More

Last night's speech... the words disconnect and delusional came to mind at the time.
Today, even ABC felt that Obama didn't get his facts straight. (Does he ever?)
Point number one. "Foreign companies to spend without limit in our elections."
The president has assailed the Supreme Court's decision on campaign financing, and tonight said, "The Supreme Court reversed a century of law to open the floodgates for special interests -- including foreign companies -- to spend without limit in our elections. Well I ... Read More

From Prison Planet
The UK government is about to spend $700 million dollars installing surveillance cameras inside the private homes of citizens to ensure that children go to bed on time, attend school and eat proper meals.
Now the government is embarking on a scheme called “Family Intervention Projects” which will literally create a nanny state on steroids, with social services goons and private security guards given the authority to make regular “home checks” to ensure parents are raising their children correctly.

Avalon Area of Patapsco State Park that is.
Enric, Miranda, and Silas are still in town. Enric and Miquel decided to go mountain biking and Miranda and Laura went hiking. I got to spend some time with Silas.
Silas climbed mountains at the playground there.
Here, I show off my great grandparenting skills as I take photos of Silas falling off a swing. :)
Next, we thought we'd impress Mr. Dolphin (or as Silas calls him, Dolph), and show him Silas hugging a tree.

Last time John was here I took some time to cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, so this time around, I took him to Sandy Point State Park where there is a great view of the bridge.
I really think it is an impressive structure and proud to show it off.
The original span opened in 1952 and at the time, with a length of 4.3 miles (7 km), was the world's longest continuous over-water steel structure. A parallel span was added in 1973 giving ... Read More

Two days before we were with freezing temperatures and under a blanket of ice and snow, and then Saturday we woke up to a balmy 60 degrees. So, rather spontaneously, Laura and I decided to go to Kilgore Falls at Rocks State Park, located in Northern Harford County, one of our favorite places for an outing. We invited Jenny and Heather.
As the car moved away from the houses and shops, the girls were soon captured with the natural beauty that ... Read More

I guess many of us listened to the State of the Union Speech last night.
Couldn't help notice how Drudge reported the stock market falling this, the next day after the speech.
What did he say? And does it match the facts?
OBAMA: "We have launched a housing plan that will help responsible families facing the threat of foreclosure lower their monthly payments and refinance their mortgages. It's a plan that won't help speculators or that neighbor down the street who bought a ... Read More
