We had yet another sweet Thanksgiving, we missed part of our family, they were in Wisconsin.
The tables were...
...all set and ready.
This bunch came ready and excited to dig in.
Daniel is all ready.
Miquel knows how to relax, put his feet up, get a drink, and the TV has football playing.
Time to eat all the delicious food. A different kind of Corn bread and crab dip were new items on this year's menu.
Miquel and ... Read More

Laura decided on a small get together at home for her 18th birthday. Of course this was her third such get together, this one was just on her actual birthday.
So Laura had a nice birthday month, and we had a very sweet Thanksgiving, and the Ravens won! :)

Our Pastor gave a wonderful Thanksgiving message this past Sunday. Briefly he mentioned the story of a man. Martin Rinkart, who had every reason to live in despair, but not only remembered to be thankful, but wrote a Prayer teaching his children how to be thankful.
Born in Germany in Leipzig in 23rd April 1586, Rinkart was the son of a copper smith from Saxony. He went to school in at Eilenburg, and when he was 15 went off to take ... Read More

This year for Thanksgiving, ALL of the family was together except Miquel who had to work and Jenny who stayed home. But unlike last year Miranda and Silas were away, as a family, we were all together for at least part of the day.
We had a great time, and I think Silas decided he likes Thanksgiving very much. ... Read More

Our Thanksgiving was spent at Linda and George's. Everything was perfect as usual.
Anxious for food? And yes, that is Miquel sitting on poor Jenny's lap!
AFTER the dinner...Jenny and Miquel look done for!
Laura is sitll alive though.
Some just prefer good old peanut butter and jelly!
Celebrating Laura's birthday again during dessert time!
The desserts....
There was lots of football too.
We drove home in some interesting fog, and when we got home safely, it was another thing to be thankful for! ... Read More

It's hard to believe that 16 years ago today I waddled into the hospital, with the entire staff looking at my stomach and accusing me of eating the whole Thanksgiving turkey.
Eight hours later, Laura was born. She was perfect. Smiling. The most beautiful little girl. She was a perfect 10. Her brother held her and she looked deep into Enric's eyes as if he was her hero.
Happy birthday, my princess.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving, with mom doing an outstanding job of making the house warm, cozy, inviting, and the food amazing.
The weather was unusual, as the temperature hit nearly 80 degrees! Then clouds rolled in, the wind blew, and so many of the leaves that looked like they were going to stubbornly never come down, fell - making it looked like we hadn't done any raking at all by the time people arrived.

I don't know how it happened, but suddenly, it's the Sunday before Thanksgiving.
As my son said to me on the phone today, one of his professors at school said, "Let the eating season begin."
It's so true, from now till New Years, I am sure even our ankles get fat.

I am very grateful that I live in a nation that has set aside one day a year for giving thanks.
I did a search in Bible.com to see how often the word Thanksgiving would come up, I found 29 instances, and this would not include of course, the words thanks or thank, just Thanksgiving.
Leviticus 7:12
If he offer it for a thanksgiving, then he shall offer with the sacrifice of thanksgiving unleavened cakes mingled with oil, and unleavened wafers anointed with ... Read More
In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
A Thankful Spirit
First among the things to be thankful for is a thankful spirit. Some people would grumble at the accommodations in Heaven if they ever got there. They take their blessings here so much as a matter of course, that even a day of general thanksgiving once a year is more than they feel any need of. And if their personal ... Read More
This is so my favorite time of year. Not just for the autumn leaves, the colors and the crisp frosty air...the cozy indoors and the foods are also a favorite.
I was reminded of one of the family's favorite foods, by a phone call from Miranda asking for a recipe, (Enric told her of Mama's Sweet Potatoes), and she had to learn it.
After emailing her the recipe, I thought to share on my blog, I hope you try it!
Ingredients:
4 cups mashed ... Read More
