About Me

I have resisted creating an “About Me” for awhile until now.
A visit to another lady’s blog inspired me to make one.

I hope this will give some insight to me and my little blog.

First of all, if you haven’t already noticed this blog has a little bit of everything – mainly because that is how I am, a mix of everything. I don’t think I could ever make a personal blog devoted to just one subject, I am just not wired that way.

Let me know what is missing from the list, I’d LOVE input on this page!

~Barb

  • Name: Barbara Ann. This was before the Beach Boy’s song AND the Regent’s version.
  • Aliases: Xerraire
  • Birthday: May 11 Which, if you believe in that kind of thing (I don’t), makes me a Taurus. Some might say I have a Taurean stubborness, and I suppose I do, but only when I deeply believe in something. I pick my battles. I have been told I have a sensitive sense of justice, I think that says it well.
  • Birthplace: Baltimore, Maryland.
  • Residence: Now outside of Baltimore Maryland. Closer to Annapolis.
  • Languages: English, Spanish, Catalán
  • Occupation: Web and Graphics design work at home mom.
  • Education: High School, Some College, Art, Piano and Spanish Classes in Sabadell, Spain. Life, has also been a good teacher and the lessons are never ending.
  • Hobbies: Photography, art, music, graphic arts, Terragen Art
  • Politics: Yes. :)
  • Religion: Actually I find this a very bad word, as it seems that no matter how you use it, someone will always attach their perception of religion to it, and no matter what I say what my beliefs and relationship with God are, if you give a demonination, they will align you with any one they have ever known in that denomination. So, to quote my pastor, “It’s not the religion, it’s the relationship.”
  • Cuisine: My mom’s cooking of course! I like mediterranean cuisine. I make a grand Paella, Catalan cuisine, tapas. I also like the rich dishes of France and have enjoyed their tremendous sauces and heavy dishes. I guess my favorite dish is “Fideos a la Casola” but I can be equally happy eating a pop tart. :)
  • Soundtrack: Oh, Visit my list of music » HERE
  • Favorite letters: X and G
  • Favorite color: Peach, but I also like yellows and greens.
  • Favorite flowers: Pink fairy orchid and banksias of Australia are very alluring, also the native wildflowers of Maryland thrill me too.
  • Favorite season: Autumn
  • Favorite drinks: I do like water…Also Coffee, teas, cafe mochas, orange juice with pineapple is a new favorite.
  • Favorite flavor: Anything maple!
  • Favorite scents: :)
  • Favorite place to be: HOME, it’s the best, but, I do love the mountains of West Virginia, the warmth of Barcelona, Spain, and sliding on the icy sidewalks of Eindhoven, Netherlands. I guess to say, it’s just best to be where there is love all around you. I adapt well.
  • Aversions: lies, phonies, close spaces, disrespect, laziness, those who never listen, mainstream media, sexism, racism, narcicism, passive aggression, and apathy.

I’ve gone back and forth with an ‘about’ page. I have one on my site, but it’s barely about me. There’s one paragraph with really basic information about me, most of which could be figured out from reading the site anyway. The rest is about the site itself.

Basically, whatever you prefer is what’s best.

I’m with tigerblade as far as the “about” sections. I prefer to use the about section to inform about the site, which for a blog is primarily a function of it’s author so it can be “about me” content, but more from the perspective of what I plan on writing for the site, and less of a myspace-esque “things that may define me” list. But to each their own (as long as it doesn’t offend me :) .

    Hi Barb,

A while back in August, you posted something about the music video “Secret Ambition” by Michael W. Smith. I am a writer doing research for an article, and I was just wondering if you (or anyone out there) had any idea who portrayed Jesus Christ in that video. If you know, or if you know someone who might be able to track it down, I’d love it if you emailed me at buckleupp@hotmail.com. Thanks!

Wow, Barb you and John really did seem to get around. I have enjoyed all the pictures here and learned a little about Maryland too. I expect you were a little sad to see John go after waiting so long to meet up. Now you must save hard to go and see Australia and all of those fantastic Banksias.

    Best Wishes

Barb, I read your blog from time to time and you have a passion for fonts just as I do. I was wondering if I sent you a pic of 2 items I’m trying to find the font for, you may know what there called and head me in the direction to finding and buying them. That’s if you have the time. I hope you can help but if not is OK and I’ll keep reading. Cheers Sharon…….Sydney Australia

I am writing to update you on some things taking place here at Northland. The link that you have on your blog for us as http://www.nbbc.edu is now http://www.ni.edu and our over arching name is Northland International University. The old link will point to the new one for approximately 5 months and then be disconnected. Any information that has not been updated at that point will no longer be valid. My hope is that someone will be able to make that change for us before then. Thank you so much for supporting us, and for your time and attention to this matter.

    Greetings!

I am working with The Priests on their second album ‘Harmony’ due for release on 23rd November. ‘Harmony’ will include such tracks as the The Lord’s Prayer and Amazing Grace and is sure to follow in the footsteps of their successful debut that received a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the ‘Fastest-selling UK debut for a classical act’.

I am looking for sites that have fans with a passion for religious hymns and choral music. I came across your site and thought it would be an ideal place to contact fans of The Priests directly. This would give them a chance to hear news about album releases, exclusive TV appearances and concerts from The Priests.

Here’s the link to a pre-listen of their new track Amazing Grace http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9QpdRnYPlM and if there’s anyway you can post it and put our site link up for further info that’d great. We also have new pictures, a press release and biog should you require further information.

I look forward to hearing from you

    Many thanks

    Lucy

I’ve been playing your online scrabble. I’m not real sharp on websites and how to go about using them, responding to others, etc. I get kind of dismayed at all the negative stuff about using the net. All that has stopped me from communicating as much as others have. Kind of like still being a hippy in the year 2010.

I find your pics fascinating and your written material interesting. I thank you for putting out the solitaire scrabble. I wish you well in all your things that you do. Here’s to positive souls using the internet.

    Have a great day.

  18. Hey Barb,

I found you by way of a search for a good photograph of honeysuckle and yours is the BEST so far! I can’t find an email to contact you anywhere, but I was wondering if I might use this photo (http://www.xerraireart.com/Photos/details.php?image_id=584) for a poem I wrote. I posted one I had taken with my cell phone, but it’s hardly appropriate. Here’s a link to the post, and if you’d give me permission, I’ll be happy to link back to your photo site, the picture itself or your blog. IF this is a breach of etiquette, PLEASE forgive me! I won’t gain commercially from its use, I just wanted a beautiful image to go with my words. I stopped looking when I saw yours :) .

(BTW, LOVE how you’ve handled your about page; I’ve resisted writing one for years but maybe it’s time….:) )

    Hello

I discovered your blog entry about John Peterson’s music which you posted in 2008 while I was looking for how I could get lyrics and music for a song I love and would like to perform. It is his “When there’s a rainbow. You commented about how hard it is to find and I wonder if you have since found his music. Would you tell me how I could get sheet music or a tape or CD? I look forward to your reply and hope you can help me.

    Thanking you

    Gardeen
