Silas Idol
So as our usual, Laura and I are tuned into American Idol. Last night, Silas decided to steal the show. So Laura, ever quick with her cell phone’s video capabilities, recorded Silas. Now Silas has been watching a lot of The Three Tenors of late, and might explain some of his drama while singing. Either way, he stole the show as far as we were concerned. Enjoy, Silas Idol! … Read entire article »

Deep and Wide
Ever sang Deep and Wide in Sunday School? It was also a favorite of mine at Vacation Bible School with Rev. South. I’ve been teaching Silas some new songs. One was “This Little Light of Mine” and the one on this video, “Deep and Wide.” This was soon after they both heard it for the first time, so they need a little more practice, but Laura captured them with her new camera. The house is mid getting ready for Christmas, which explains the big box they decided to sing behind. … Read entire article »

Distraction
Silas showed us how short a child’s attention span can be today. He saw his daddy pull into the driveway, got all excited about greeting him, nearly hurt himself in his anxiousness to meet him at the doorway, goes running to greet him, Enric puts his bottled water down on the table to hug Silas, and that was all that was needed to distract Silas in a big way. “OH” he says. We sure did laugh a long time! … Read entire article »

Where Are the Jobs?
You have to love modern day news and how it’s all videotaped for our review and reflection. The following clip where Obama mentions the how the stimulus package will create or save jobs “right now”, “immediately”, “ahead of schedule” and then how he backs off from those words in clips later should be an embarrassment to this administration. The real news is actually scary: 7 Months After Stimulus 49 of 50 States Have Lost Jobs America Now Over 6 Million Jobs Shy of Administration’s Projections Click here to see the chart of all the jobs lost in each state It has the estimated “change” and the REAL “change” … Read entire article »

Jon Stewart Blasts Mainstream Media
If you have been paying attention at all, you know that basically a couple of amateurs went undercover and exposed a lot of dirt on ACORN, to the point that the House has voted to defund the organization. Nevermind that it is already well known that ACORN engaged in conspiracy to get Democrats elected by any means necessary, using registration drives partially funded by taxpayers and the Obama campaign to enroll nonexistent and ineligible voters. Its members have been indicted for voter fraud in Nevada and Florida. So when a conservative blogger and his assistant, posing as a pimp and prostitute, got ACORN workers on tape to advise them on setting up a house for prostitution of young and underage girls, Jon Stewart who only “plays” at the news, gets a … Read entire article »

9/12/09 Protest at Washington D.C.
There seems to be an inconsistency in reporting how many people were at yesterday’s protest. I hate when that happens! This country just can’t COUNT! I’ve read thousands, tens of thousands, and U.K. Newspaper said Two Million Demonstrators waved U.S. flags and held signs reading “Go Green Recycle Congress” and “I’m Not Your ATM.” Men wore colonial costumes as they listened to speakers who warned of “judgment day” – Election Day 2010. Richard Brigle, 57, a Vietnam War veteran and former Teamster, came from Michigan. He said health care needs to be reformed – but not according to President Barack Obama’s plan. Terri Hall, 45, of Florida, said she felt compelled to become political for the first time this year because she was upset by government spending. “Our government has lost sight of the powers … Read entire article »

When I Go
This is a live version of something Beth Ellen shared with me today. Loved the version she sent me, but here it goes, When I Go by Over The Rhine. it makes a difference when you walk through a room with that worrisome smile road weary perfume but this isn’t the place and it isn’t the time for this beautiful delusion that is robbing me blind i want to know i want to know will it make a difference when i go it makes a difference that i’m feeling this way with plenty to think about and so little to say except for this confession that is poised on my lips i’m not letting go of God I’m just losing my grip i want to know i want to know will it keep you guessing when i go what is a love if the love’s not my own this is not my home this is lonely but never alone i … Read entire article »

Don’t Speak
So now, Obama wants to decide who talks. Oh, the arrogance. Not only does he lie about who created the problem, he wants to shut up any opposing views to his. According to Kathryn Jean Lopez of the National Review (no relation): Yesterday, at a rally for R. Creigh Deeds in Virginia, President Obama said: “I don’t want the folks who created the mess do a lot of talking. I want them to get out of the way so we can clean up the mess. I don’t mind cleaning up after them, but don’t do a lot of talking.” For Barack Obama, democracy appears to be a distraction. He really does seem to view himself as a Caesar. Shortly after taking office, Obama held a meeting with governors. At the time, one person in the room relayed … Read entire article »

Fireproof
I think I am the last in the circle of my family and friends to see the movie, Fireproof. It was well worth the wait. Some quotes from the movie: Michael Simmons: The sad part about it is, when most people promise for better or for worse, they really only mean for the better. *********** John Holt: Has she thanked you for anything you’ve done the last 20 days? Caleb Holt: No! And you’d think after I washed the … Read entire article »

Read the Bill
Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) inadvertently gives a great reason why they should take longer than 15 hours after finishing a bill in committee before voting on it on the floor. This man is the: Committee on the Judiciary (Chair) Subcommittee on Commercial and Administrative Law Subcommittee on Courts, the Internet, and Intellectual Property Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties If he needs two lawyers to read and interpret the bills, then we can conclude no one understands these laws as they are written! … Read entire article »

2 Japanese Detained In Italy; Concealed $134.5 BILLION Of U.S. Government Bonds In Briefcase
If you haven’t heard this headline yet, and maybe you haven’t nor won’t, it’s because this is the huge kind of news that gets neglected while most lap up the “cutesy stories” like the latest outfit Michelle Obama is wearing or the little girl who got an excuse for missing school from the president himself. The Italian Publication, The AgeziaDellaDogone is reporting that Italian authorities have detained 2 Japanese nationals who were attempting to cross into Switzerland with $134.5 BILLION in U.S. Government Bonds… hidden in a false-bottomed briefcase. According to Right Soup: If the certificates are real, Italy just won the lottery… their money laundering laws inflict a 40% penalty for failure to declare instruments and cash in excess of $10,000 Euros, which means they’d score a windfall of around $40 billion … Read entire article »
