Kinder Park Farm
I often speak of Kinder Park, but I often forget one of the things that is so precious about it…FARM. Kinder also has a farm on its land, and it makes it really special. Before that though, we took Silas to the playground. We first had a bit of a walk to get there, Laura took her bike. Silas hardly knew where to start at the playground. A try walking on the ropes? Laura forgot she is way too old … Read entire article »

Back to Kinder Park
With the nice change of weather in the upper 50’s, Laura and I decided to go to Kinder Park. The fact that it is technically still winter was still there, with snow from our last blizzards still in scattered places around the park… Because of the winter, not much was “alive” at Kinder today. Some berries… …some ducks too. Of course, the ever present silos were still there. Laura got to try out her new bike! And before we left, we saw … Read entire article »

Silas Idol
So as our usual, Laura and I are tuned into American Idol. Last night, Silas decided to steal the show. So Laura, ever quick with her cell phone’s video capabilities, recorded Silas. Now Silas has been watching a lot of The Three Tenors of late, and might explain some of his drama while singing. Either way, he stole the show as far as we were concerned. Enjoy, Silas Idol! … Read entire article »

Baltimore Auto Show 2010
A few times in the past I have given to Miquel as his Valentine’s present, a visit to the car show in Baltimore’s Convention Center. In the years past, it has been overwhelmingly amazing and it was almost too much show to see in one visit. This year, I was excited to have more Valentines to take, and we set out yesterday to the Maryland Auto Show. There were some noticeable changes at the start. Not … Read entire article »

Christmas Eve 2009 Highlights
This Christmas Eve was special with Enric, Miranda, and Silas here with us. Jenny, back from school, was here too! The evening was sweet starting with our Christmas Eve service at church, and my guess is, that is when the hilarity got its start. Silas didn’t go into the nursery as keeping children with parents in the service is encouraged. He was so funny singing along, imitating the violins, and speaking out loud. Once home, the evening … Read entire article »

It Was My Dad’s
Mom handed Cameron one day a car to play with. I wondered where it came from, as it was obviously old. She told me it was my dad’s. Since it was my dad’s, the very moment Cameron wasn’t interested in playing with it, I put it on my shelf, and there it has been decorating my room. However, it wasn’t until today that I thought to investigate about this little toy car. First thing I did … Read entire article »

Laura’s 16th
Laura’s birthday party was a small gathering of family and friends. What wasn’t expected was the HILARITY that made the meal and cake. Yaya made a funny and the laughter didn’t stop all the rest of the night. We started the evening with one of Laura’s favorites, Alaskan crab legs. My Little Girl is 16
It’s hard to believe that 16 years ago today I waddled into the hospital, with the entire staff looking at my stomach and accusing me of eating the whole Thanksgiving turkey. Eight hours later, Laura was born. She was perfect. Smiling. The most beautiful little girl. She was a perfect 10. Her brother held her and she looked deep into Enric’s eyes as if he was her hero. Happy birthday, my princess. … Read entire article »

Escape Hell
Today we read in Laura’s American Literature book an excerpt from “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God” by Jonathan Edwards. “All wicked men’s pains and contrivance they use to escape hell, while they continue to reject Christ, and so remain wicked men, do not secure them from hell, flatters himself that he shall escape it; he depends upon himself in what he has done, in what he is now doing, or what he intends to do; every one lays out matters in his own mind how he shall avoid damnation, and flatters himself that he contrives well for himself, and that his schemes will not fail. They hear indeed that there are but a few saved, and that the bigger part of men that have died heretofore are gone … Read entire article »

Presumptions
Today, the day after Labor Day, as our usual, Laura and I began school. This is her 11th year. Our time ran past the President’s speech. Oh darn! Not that I felt it was a big deal one way or another. I don’t think we really had intended to watch it. Especially when it was leaked out what was attached to it, given to the teachers. For example, it is suggested that students in grades 7-12 should, before the President’s speech, write their responses to the following questions: “Why does President Obama want to speak with us today?;” “How will he inspire us?:” and “How will he challenge us?” “What inspired you about President Obama’s speech?,” and “what lines or phrases from the President’s speech resonate with you?” How dare Obama or his administration PRESUME … Read entire article »

Last Day Means Tattoos
Our hotel didn’t allow henna tattoos because they claimed that the ink makes a hard to clean stain on their interior. With that in mind, the girls decided on the last day they would get a tattoo. Nightfall, Bayside
After some rest in the afternoon, we went bayside for the sunset. There were too many clouds for a real sunset! However, it was real pretty anyway. Then it was back on the boardwalk for the night. Dance Recital at Downs Park
Britney and Heather were in a dance recital at Downs Park. I was excited to see them dance again, and have another chance to take photos. Britney on her toes. Flea Market
In the first time, in my adult life, I went to a flea market today. I think as a child I remember once going with Chris and her family, but as an adult, this was indeed a first. I went because Jenny and her mom were setting up to sell some things and Laura jumped in to do the same with them, I wanted to see what it was all about. Miquel provided muscle, and apparently … Read entire article »

Then What?
Laura brought home a tape from the Wilds by Rich Tozour called Where Are You Going. The beginning starts out interesting, a discussion between a University of Mechanical Engineering professor and his student: Professor: What are you going to do after you graduate this coming spring? Student: Well, I got a job lined up at an engineering firm. Professor: That’s great, so when you get the job there, then what? Student: Well you know (a girls name) in the … Read entire article »

A Second Chance
I don’t know how these things happen. One minute I hear my daughter squealing on the phone and the next, I am drivng us to pick up a teeny baby kitty where Jenny works. The baby kitten was found in an industrial park, all alone, taken to the vets, pronounced healthy, and needed a home. Jenny’s mom wanted it to have a nice place to stay and have a “second chance.” Jenny called Laura right away. So … Read entire article »

A Day Trip to New York City
I don’t get asked out very often, so when Chris called asking if I wanted to spend the day in New York, I said, “Yes!” I knew Laura wanted to go back after a taste of New York last October and Miquel hadn’t gone with us that time. So we all piled into Chrissie’s Mustang and took off early (very early) Sunday Morning. We drove through some fog on the way up, but soon enough, the … Read entire article »

Good-bye Mr. Chips
It rained all last night and most of today. In fact, as far as rain goes, we have had a lot of it this spring. It’s even chilly today. As I was finishing my lunch, my daughter informed me that Yaya was insisting we come watch a classic old movie on the TV. … Read entire article »

Blue Angels!
Each year the Blue Angels come to Annapolis. The first time I saw them was unexpected and almost scary! |A few times back now, it’s just a thrill to see what it is they can do. Broom Hockey
In case you don’t know what broom hockey is, let me explain. You take the church’s parking lot, empty it of all cars, form an oval with chairs, add two goals on either end, and invite the young people to bring their brooms, add a little orange ball, and you have broom hockey. Our church has been doing this event for as long as I can remember, and is always a favorite activity among my children. Laura, … Read entire article »

New Lens
In yet ANOTHER early birthday present, my mom gave me a new camera lens. It wasn’t expensive, so I was dubious about its quality. After doing some research and hearing some testimonies, I felt it would be a good lens for portraits. I have already been thinking about adding portraits to my photography. Laura was my first “victim” and we set aside today for our first photoshoot together. For the rest of the photos, have a look … Read entire article »
