A Superior Engineer

Posted By Xerraire On Monday, January 30th 2012 In General, News Items | Tags: creation, dogs, engineer, God, snow, superior |
A Superior Engineer Seems some Japanese researchers were curious why humans need all kinds of gear on their feet to weather the snow, and dogs do not. Read from the Institute for Creation Research today: It turns out that dog paws have tiny blood vessels arranged as counter-current heat exchangers. This way, dogs' internal body heat is not lost through the soles of their feet. Instead, cold blood is warmed right in their paws before it re-enters the main blood supply. Plus, most of the ... Read More

Rubi in the Snow

Rubi in the Snow Winters in Maryland can be rough, especially if you're from Wisconsin, because of the lack of snow! So when our first little accumulation happened, Miranda quickly got Rubi and Silas outside but not before telling me to grab the camera for Rubi's first snow.   When it was over, Rubi learned about another great thing about playing in the snow, having Hot chocolate inside with nana! ... Read More

Christmas Shopping For as long as I can remember, as a family we would agree to meet in early December at a mall and together go Christmas shopping. Usually it would involve going out to eat and visiting almost every store in the mall. Of late, it's mostly the women in the family and lunch. This year we went with Miranda's request and shopped at Columbia Mall. Suddenly, I think Christmas shopping these days, is little about shopping... it was magical for me to ... Read More

Get Your Stories Straight

Get Your Stories Straight On Al Gore's Website he answers Bill Riley why has there been so much snow in New York? Last week on his show Bill O’Reilly asked, “Why has southern New York turned into the tundra?” and then said he had a call into me. I appreciate the question. As it turns out, the scientific community has been addressing this particular question for some time now and they say that increased heavy snowfalls are completely consistent with what they ... Read More

Baltimore Gas and Electric Now I don't want to sound like I am complaining in this blog post. I mean, as of this writing, I am warm, my house is heated, the electric is purring nicely, I have hot water, and basically everything is running fine. Today, because of a heavy, wet, and wicked snowstorm, I know so many people who do not have electricity, and it doesn't look like they will until Saturday or Sunday, some 3 days with any. So, on Facebook, I have ... Read More

Merry Christmas And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. Dictatorial Aspirations? Neil linked to an article about global warming fraud, and I just had to share some of the thoughts from that article. The article first discusses some global warming headlines and then reminds us that Science in its history has some errors: The assertion that Science has all the answers to every important question, and that no answers are to be found in any ”unscientific” source, is arrogant in the extreme. This assertion is offensive to anyone who has studied the history ... Read More

Back to the B&A Trail Today the good weather took Laura and I to the B&A Trail. It seems like forever that we had been there. The trail has about an 8-foot wide paved surface and is in good condition. The total length is 13 miles between Annapolis and Glen Burnie, MD. Once you reach the northern terminus, a short connector path will take you over to the recently completed BWI Trail. The southern half of the trail cuts through some nice suburban ... Read More

Back to Kinder Park With the nice change of weather in the upper 50's, Laura and I decided to go to Kinder Park. The fact that it is technically still winter was still there, with snow from our last blizzards still in scattered places around the park... Because of the winter, not much was "alive" at Kinder today. Some berries... ...some ducks too. Of course, the ever present silos were still there. Laura got to try out her new bike! Cabin Fever After days and days of  so many feet of snow outside, and little melting, you have to just get out anyway. Saturday was one of those days, and we decided to take Silas to the park. There had been a few warmish days, however it was a tad disheartening to see the park benches nearly still covered in snow. Silas wanted to go on the slide, but there was a mini lake under it! Blizzard 2009 I don't think that our weatherman could have predicted this. They started off saying a chance of snow with some accumulation. Then they began talking inches, and pretty soon, some time later, they were talking FEET! Today, it was a BLIZZARD! Enric decided fairly early to get started on cleaning the driveway and cleaning off the cars. Silas watched his daddy with excited interest. Enric starts cleaning off Yaya's car. We were only supposed to get about 2 inches, but by night, I would say closer to 4 fell here in Pasadena.   Mom said that it was reported, statistically it often snows on December 5th, so I guess we don't have to panic that our global warming is really global ice age. Snow and Record Breaking Cold       I have never hid, even since I started this blog, my confusion over the weather, climate and the global warming debate. It seems like for every scientific evidence one gives on a certain slant, others can chime in with evidence in the other direction. More confusing is weather headlines of late: THE icy weather of snow, hail and heavy rain that has swept across South Africa over the past few days has set 54 weather records.
