Lake Joondalup Today after church and relaxing at home, we decided to go to Lake Joondalup. Here are some of the sights, birds, and SPIDERS there! John assured me these were common garden spiders, but they were HUGE and they were many in the woods of Lake Joondalup. John called these snails below pests, because their European and don't belong here. I couldn't help but think, they're pests here, but in Spain, they're lunch. :) A happy surprise, some blue fairy wrens. Austracantha minax , below, (with ... Read More

A Garden Walk

A Garden Walk   I guess I've blogged about walking at Kinder Farm Park many times by now, but rarely do I mention the community garden they have there. Yesterday, Jenny, Laura, and I decided to go to Kinder Park and take Silas. (Rubí was still taking a nap). We couldn't do the full loop as Silas isn't up to it, so we went to the playground area which is across from the garden. I decided to take a closer look at what they were ... Read More

At the Park with Silas and Cameron

Posted By Xerraire On Wednesday, August 17th 2011 In Featured, Personal | Tags: Barb, bleachers, boys, cameron, climb, fences, jump, laura, park, Silas |
At the Park with Silas and Cameron After a rather lackluster time on the playground equipment, the boys with Laura and I went to the woods to see if the cats were still there. That area is close to the baseball field. That became an invitation to jump off the bleachers and climb fences. The boys had a great time as jumping and climbing is still a challenge at ages 3 and 4, as well as triumphs occur when they could finally jump without falling, and climbing and ... Read More

Mall Park and Driving

Mall Park and Driving Inside some malls are these adorable play areas for children, that Miranda has called the "Mall Park" A few days ago, Rubí had her first visit and then we went again fairly soon after that. She LOVED it! I thought she would be a bit timid, but she went at it like it was the most natural thing to do! I had to pull out my cell phone and snap a few photos. Today the cell phone came out again as she ... Read More

Silas at Fort Smallwood Park Today, Laura and I took Silas to Fort Smallwood Park. We knew he would enjoy it there, I don't think we know HOW much! Silas learned he could throw wood in the water, and that became the order of the day. Throw wood in the water... Run along the beach to get some more wood. Climbing on Rocks was also fun! Back to the wood? A big one! Silas got very excited about the Fort. Later, Silas enjoyed the playground with Tia Laura. We bribed him away ... Read More

The Park and Mud After a few days straight of rain, the sun came out and everyone was anxious to get out. We had Cameron, so it was decided to take the boys to the park. The slide was wet, but Silas went down anyway. Silas was already to help Cameron. Getting outdoors to the park is just too fun! But alas, the mud...Silas couldn't help himself. A Walk Without the Walk Last week, Silas jumped off the bed and in doing so, his foot unfortunately met with a toy that punctured the bottom (of his foot) which sent him to the doctors, and then later the emergency room for stitches. When he got home, he was good as gold, quiet, and did some quiet activities. This is not our usual Silas, and finally his mommy thought to take a walk. But Silas couldn't walk, so we put him in the stroller and figured ... Read More

Kinder Park Farm I often speak of Kinder Park, but I often forget one of the things that is so precious about it...FARM. Kinder also has a farm on its land, and it makes it really special. Before that though, we took Silas to the playground. We first had a bit of  a walk to get there, Laura took her bike. Silas hardly knew where to start at the playground. A try walking on the ropes? Cabin Fever After days and days of  so many feet of snow outside, and little melting, you have to just get out anyway. Saturday was one of those days, and we decided to take Silas to the park. A Day in Avalon Avalon Area of Patapsco State Park that is. Enric, Miranda, and Silas are still in town. Enric and Miquel decided to go mountain biking and Miranda and Laura went hiking. Watching the Planes, Again

Watching the Planes, Again John really seemed to enjoy our little park on Dorsey Road where one can go to watch the planes land. So, after a day at the zoo, we piled back into the car to watch some more planes land. The late afternoon showed off what a rainy, stormy day we had (it hailed). John did something different this time. He walked along the road so that he could see directly under the planes as they landed. Taking a cue from his 300mm lens, ... Read More

Sandy Point State Park and the Bay Bridge Last time John was here I took some time to cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, so this time around, I took him to Sandy Point State Park where there is a great view of the bridge. I really think it is an impressive structure and proud to show it off. The original span opened in 1952 and at the time, with a length of 4.3 miles (7 km), was the world's longest continuous over-water steel structure. A parallel span was added in 1973 giving ... Read More
