After some hard work getting ready for the greens collection, we were ready for it to be picked up. Even though it was a holiday for most (Labor Day), the truck with workers arrived.
I guess the closest thing we have to this in Pasadena, is when they pick up our leaves in autumn.

Each year it is made available greens verge collection in John's area. Years ago when I first met John, I didn't even know what verge meant. Verge = a strip of grass or other vegetation beside a road. I guess we would call it a curbside collection. They are limited to tree prunings ONLY up to a total of 3m3.
We are lucky the weekend was cooler.I dedicated myself to be John's helper, not willing to brave his ladder or tools ... Read More

Also this past month, I compiled a list of all the records in the house that are Compilation albums.
To my surprise the one that seemed to be worth the most was this one that I played over and over again from K-Tel, "I Believe in Music"
You remember K-Tel always selling these kinds of records?
A list of songs from that Album:
Side One:

I have on my desk three large stacks of record albums.
While moving things around in the living room to make room to put flooring down, I found record albums that belonged to Mom, Dad, my grandmom, and some of my old ones. I decided to put the titles into a database, as I am sure some might be collectors items, and possibly valuable to someone. Given the spread of ages included here, there is quite a variety in this group.

Adding to my music collection is never ending. Here is the latest. :) I am really loving the Saltwater Band song, "Djilawurr". (push play to listen)
It means orange footed scrub fowl. Lovely Aboriginal tune from Australia. The Bruno Mars song, I can't get out of my head, it must be all this engagement/ wedding stuff. That's ok, Rubí loves dancing with her nana to it.

It's been awhile since I got my new computer. Even so, it's been even longer to completely get it set up. (It sat in the box for awhile too).
It's just that it's overwhelming and I didn't have much time to deal with it. Well this weekend, I finally set up the speakers so I could hear music and moved my external hard drive with my MP3 collection to the new PC as well. In doing this, I thought I best ... Read More

It was truly tempting to call this "Postcards from the Edge" after the week I just had, but, I resisted.
As I mentioned in another blog, Tuesday I had 12-13 hours of straight driving, with one small break for lunch.
On the way home, I was feeling fatigued and thought to get a candy bar to give me a chocolate 'lift'.
So, I stopped in one of the nice rest stations along the Pennsylvania Turnpike, and saw one of my favorites, a Three ... Read More

Recently having moved some of my things from my house, and having unpacked most books from the barn, I have put together a list of the books I currently own that are dusted off and put up on the shelf. Likely more to come.
Some were gifts, and even one on this list I had a part in helping the author!

Most who visit my blog know that my external hard drive, where I store all my music, failed.
I have not been able to get together the money needed to look into a data recovery specialist, although, a few of them quoted me fair prices, well below the 1,000 - 2,000 dollar standard, it was still steep for me in light of my limited income.
I have that on the back burner for now, perhaps I will still be able to do ... Read More
