Baltimore Auto Show 2010
A few times in the past I have given to Miquel as his Valentine’s present, a visit to the car show in Baltimore’s Convention Center. In the years past, it has been overwhelmingly amazing and it was almost too much show to see in one visit. This year, I was excited to have more Valentines to take, and we set out yesterday to the Maryland Auto Show. There were some noticeable changes at the start. Not … Read entire article »

Christmas Eve 2009 Highlights
This Christmas Eve was special with Enric, Miranda, and Silas here with us. Jenny, back from school, was here too! The evening was sweet starting with our Christmas Eve service at church, and my guess is, that is when the hilarity got its start. Silas didn’t go into the nursery as keeping children with parents in the service is encouraged. He was so funny singing along, imitating the violins, and speaking out loud. Once home, the evening … Read entire article »

Blizzard 2009
I don’t think that our weatherman could have predicted this. They started off saying a chance of snow with some accumulation. Then they began talking inches, and pretty soon, some time later, they were talking FEET! Today, it was a BLIZZARD! Enric decided fairly early to get started on cleaning the driveway and cleaning off the cars. Silas watched his daddy with excited interest. Enric starts cleaning off Yaya’s car. Silas became increasingly excited about to go out in the … Read entire article »

Club 19
Saturday night, Miquel and band, Embers For Ashes, played at Club 19 in York, Pennsylvania. It had been a hard and exhausting week, so I really didn’t feel like the drive, but Forrest was so kind to take us. The band played like professionals. They were confident, in sync, and showed character. Even though I had cotton stuffed in my ears, I was proud of my son. More images from the evening HERE … Read entire article »

Flea Market
In the first time, in my adult life, I went to a flea market today. I think as a child I remember once going with Chris and her family, but as an adult, this was indeed a first. I went because Jenny and her mom were setting up to sell some things and Laura jumped in to do the same with them, I wanted to see what it was all about. Miquel provided muscle, and apparently … Read entire article »

Cool With Uncle Meek
While Enric, Miranda, and Silas were here, Miquel had to work odd hours and go to school. Miquel didn’t get to see them all he wanted. Miquel loves children and they seem to love him. Avalon Area of Patapsco State Park that is. Enric, Miranda, and Silas are still in town. Enric and Miquel decided to go mountain biking and Miranda and Laura went hiking. I got to spend some time with Silas. Silas climbed mountains at the playground there. Here, I show off my great grandparenting skills as I take photos of Silas falling off a swing. Next, we thought we’d impress Mr. Dolphin (or as Silas calls him, Dolph), and show … Read entire article »

Our Fourth
Our July 4th started with a sit-down family lunch of Tortilla de Patatas. With everyone’s tummy happy, we decided to get some tennis in before heading out to the harbor. Already happy to have spent most of the day with my two children, I showered and looked forward to meeting the Kucha’s to go to Baltimore. A Day Trip to New York City
I don’t get asked out very often, so when Chris called asking if I wanted to spend the day in New York, I said, “Yes!” I knew Laura wanted to go back after a taste of New York last October and Miquel hadn’t gone with us that time. So we all piled into Chrissie’s Mustang and took off early (very early) Sunday Morning. We drove through some fog on the way up, but soon enough, the … Read entire article »

Blue Angels!
Each year the Blue Angels come to Annapolis. The first time I saw them was unexpected and almost scary! |A few times back now, it’s just a thrill to see what it is they can do. This was my first time though with my new Canon camera using the 70-300mm lens. There isn’t much I can say about their presentation, I will let the pictures speak for themselves… One thing that I can say, is that it’s … Read entire article »

Tattoo Miquel
My son Miquel is a knockout. (So are all my children). He has some natural good looks… I think he can say he inherited them from his very good-looking grandfather. So it’s confusing, to me his mama, what he is doing to himself… Turning his hair blue… Poking holes in his ears… And now the latest, A tattoo. Although, after looking closer at the photo of my dad, and seeing the socks, perhaps Miquel gets some of this honest. … Read entire article »

Christmas Eve 2008
Christmas Eve, to me, has always been a very special night of the holiday. As a child, it was filled with anticipation and magic. My parents and sister were great at convincing me that Santa was near. We left cookies for Santa, and I do believe Linda even made noises upstairs to convince me to hurry to bed. As a teen, I recall the TV on with choirs, mom’s cooking in the kitchen, and Dad fiddling with … Read entire article »

Ocean City, Maryland
In the past, I have taken a lot of teasing from my friends who spent summers going east with their families to Ocean City, and my family always went west to visit family in the mountains of West Virginia and Virginia. So when I finally got to experience Ocean City, they had a lot of laughs at my questions. Like…Where’s the boardwalk? (Apparently I was standing on it), and “They don’t have chocolate pop tarts here?” Since then, … Read entire article »
