Silas Idol
So as our usual, Laura and I are tuned into American Idol. Last night, Silas decided to steal the show. So Laura, ever quick with her cell phone’s video capabilities, recorded Silas. Now Silas has been watching a lot of The Three Tenors of late, and might explain some of his drama while singing. Either way, he stole the show as far as we were concerned. Enjoy, Silas Idol! … Read entire article »

Deep and Wide
Ever sang Deep and Wide in Sunday School? It was also a favorite of mine at Vacation Bible School with Rev. South. I’ve been teaching Silas some new songs. One was “This Little Light of Mine” and the one on this video, “Deep and Wide.” This was soon after they both heard it for the first time, so they need a little more practice, but Laura captured them with her new camera. The house is mid getting ready for Christmas, which explains the big box they decided to sing behind. … Read entire article »

Where Are the Jobs?
You have to love modern day news and how it’s all videotaped for our review and reflection. The following clip where Obama mentions the how the stimulus package will create or save jobs “right now”, “immediately”, “ahead of schedule” and then how he backs off from those words in clips later should be an embarrassment to this administration. The real news is actually scary: 7 Months After Stimulus 49 of 50 States Have Lost Jobs America Now Over 6 Million Jobs Shy of Administration’s Projections Click here to see the chart of all the jobs lost in each state It has the estimated “change” and the REAL “change” … Read entire article »

Apathy
“By far the most dangerous foe we have to fight is apathy – indifference from whatever cause, not from a lack of knowledge, but from carelessness, from absorption in other pursuits, from a contempt bred of self satisfaction. ” -Sir William Osler (1849 –1919) – Canadian physician. What a great quote. I do believe that is one of our biggest problems in the world today, indifference. I might disagree though, with the lack of knowledge. These days, even though the information is readily available, so many people do not access it, such as the following video. A poll surveyed over 500 self-professed Obama voters and has an MOE of 4.4%, with 55% having a college degree and over 90% having a high-school diploma. It asked 12 multiple-choice questions; only 2.4% got … Read entire article »

9/12/09 Protest at Washington D.C.
There seems to be an inconsistency in reporting how many people were at yesterday’s protest. I hate when that happens! This country just can’t COUNT! I’ve read thousands, tens of thousands, and U.K. Newspaper said Two Million Demonstrators waved U.S. flags and held signs reading “Go Green Recycle Congress” and “I’m Not Your ATM.” Men wore colonial costumes as they listened to speakers who warned of “judgment day” – Election Day 2010. Richard Brigle, 57, a Vietnam War veteran and former Teamster, came from Michigan. He said health care needs to be reformed – but not according to President Barack Obama’s plan. Terri Hall, 45, of Florida, said she felt compelled to become political for the first time this year because she was upset by government spending. “Our government has lost sight of the powers … Read entire article »

My Favorite TV Couple
Still raining outside (we’ve been under a flood watch for the past 3 days now), and I found myself watching a very powerful episode of Gilmore Girls on the television. Dodd’s Doubletalk
This is what happens when bills are written behind closed doors, in secret, and in a rush. First Dodd didn’t know about the changes, then he did. (to the bill that allowed AIG to pay out bonuses) Then he tries to dance around the subject pointing to the cause of the changes (the Obama administration, the Treasury Department). Then he makes excuses for the changes. Adding to this, I just found out that Dodd in #1 in campaign receipts from AIG, Obama #2 Here’s the list of top AIG recipients for the 2008 campaign: 1. Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., $103,100 2. Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., $101,332 3. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., $59,499 4. Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., $35,965 5. Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., $24,750 6. Former Gov. Mitt Romney, (R) Pres $20,850 7. Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., $19,975 8. Rep. John Larson, D-Conn, … Read entire article »
