Stood in the Fire Killed by Deathwing

I had no idea what had happened, I was engulfed by fire…

Deathwing

So there I was in World of Warcraft, minding my own business, doing my quests like a good little Beastmaster Hunter, when all of the sudden, the sky went dark and red, and fire rained down on me and I was dead. I revived myself (as one can do in WoW) and found myself completely surrounded by fire, wondering, what the heck hit me? When I put this as my Facebook status, Mike replied that he would guess I got hit by Deathwing, an actual achievement that some well seasoned players had not yet received. So, aren’t I the lucky one?

Behind my Xerraire hunter.

In front of my hunter.

So once Mike explained to me what happened, I had to go see if it that is indeed what happened, and I looked on my list of achievements:

Indeed I had “Stood in the Fire” and was killed by Deathwing

So there is something new to learn each day with this game, but I was curious, what else was there to find out and what I had missed being so unprepared…

This is what I learned from WoWWiki:

While Deathwing was once a benevolent entity, he is now completely evil. He hates all mortal races, and wishes to kill them all. He’s also utterly insane, most notably shown when he had the Demon Soul. Deathwing was attached to it, such that even when warned by the goblin alchemists who made his first armor that the Demon Soul’s energies would kill him if he kept it with him too long, it wasn’t enough for him to let go of it, and was only willing to part with, temporarily, when reminded that it would likely be stolen from him if he was dead.

In spite of his insanity, Deathwing does display a degree of cunning. Although he hates mortals, he is apparently willing to tolerate them if it can prove of any help in his plans, though inevitably he will do away with them when they have outlived their usefulness.

But what did it look like? So a search on YouTube of Deathwing in Eastern Plaguelands (where I was) proved successful. I guess from the sky, what I experienced looked something like this:
