Bush Walk Koondoola

Posted By Xerraire On Monday, January 21st 2013 In Featured, General | Tags: banksia, bush walk, butterfly, dragonflies, fringed lily |
Bush Walk Koondoola Afraid to wait for another Bushfire to prevent us to walk there, we decided to go to Koondoola Bush for a walk. John said this isn't a good time of year to see wildflowers, but it seems there is ALWAYS something different and amazing to see. Jacksonia floribunda Holly Pea Dragonfly A fly that mimics a bee. Calytrix angulata Yellow Starflower This dragonfly was very patient with me. The path we took. Thysanotus multiflorus Fringe Lily Butterfly on a ... Read More

Airplane Park

Airplane Park Mid 80's temperatures and low humidity led Laura and I outdoors. Since I had an errand in the area, we decided to hike the trail at the airplane park. We call it the airplane park, but it's really an Aviation Observation Park (for plane-spotting enthusiasts) that happens to be connected to the Baltimore Annapolis Trail. (Click on the photos to enlarge)   We got to see some different examples of nature there, at least different from our other favorite walking spots. It was good ... Read More

Patuxent Wildlife Refuge

Posted By Xerraire On Saturday, August 21st 2010 In Personal | Tags: butterfly, cash lake, hummingbird moths, patuxent wildlife refuge, trail |
Patuxent Wildlife Refuge Today, Laura and I decided to visit the Patuxent Wildlife Refuge. I had seen the signs for it many times while traveling on 295 going to Washington D.C., but had never visited it. We decided to take the Cash Lake Trail, which once we started we had to back up and take a detour. None of the trails are super long, so I assume one could do them all in one day if they have the time. We didn't have the time, ... Read More

Butterfly Dream

Posted By Xerraire On Tuesday, May 5th 2009 In Personal | Tags: butterflies, butterfly, camera, dream, dreams, giant, interpretation, meaning |
Butterfly Dream No kidding, last night I dreamed I was in a garden with giant butterflies. Many of them. They weren't scary to me, even though their size as as large as the treetops, they were beautiful, with their details and markings even more vivid at this size. The frustration in the dream (isn't there always one?) is that I was struggling with my camera to get it to work to take their photos. So as an exercise in fun (I don't really believe in ... Read More

My Weekend

My Weekend   Usually I am a steady blogger, but I think I slowed down the pace of late. In fact, even my weekend seemed slow of pace...and you know what, I enjoyed and needed that. My emotions and life needed a break from the hassles of our troubling headlines. Also, Tony, my 'star quality' reader kinda told me off yesterday for making my blog too political. So, I thought an entry about my weekend would be even another nice change of pace. :) After all, ... Read More
