I don't know how to feel about Comcast's new policy on caps.
I really like my connection. It's fast, it's reliable, when or if there is a problem they work hard to fix it. Did I say it was fast?
Test Yours?
Caps are not unknown around the world, but it is different for a cable company here.
The lesson here is that because of a few abusers, the rest of us pay the price. Or maybe not.
Their cap is a generous 250 ... Read More

Well, I say "finale" but I am sure that this will only be the end of a chapter, and another will unfold. But for now, the issues of slow to no connection and a dangling orange cable seem to be over.
I thought that the orange cable was going to be there forever, until one day I open my front door and find little yellow flags, and yellow dotted lines across the front lawn:
And then it dawned on me..."Ohhhhh......Comcast had to ... Read More
If you read my blog rather regularly, you know about my frustration with Comcast.
I thought I owed an update.
Monday came and their maintenance man came to look at the 'tap' up a telephone pole. He did so with some difficulty. It seems the pole is built near a ditch, and he couldn't get his truck with a moving 'lift' near enough, and I feared the worse, he wasn't going to be able to work on my cable that day.
He was ... Read More
Comcast does have a redeemer, his name is Marcus. Now if Marcus says he is going to do something, like show up at your house at 8:30 am on a Saturday morning, that is what Marcus does. If he says he is going to run a dedicated line so it goes directly from the "tap" ( Oh yeah, I am getting all the Comcast lingo down), and goes under the driveway and around the front yard directly to my PC, ... I pay my bill on time.
I keep my PC maintained.
I make sure the PC is not filled with malware, that its clean and ready to run.
Frankly, that should make me one of Comcast's favorite customers. But I am not.
They lied to me today. They said they would send yet another technician between 8-5. He was a no-show. When I called not to happy about it, they hung up on me.
What the heck am I paying for?
Here is what ELSE I ... Read More
I thought I would update everyone as to my cable woes.
I did get to speak to a human being, somewhat knowledgeable, even. She informed me that the outages were due to an upgrade. I told her that other ISP's that have maintenence work to do INFORM their customers ahead of time so they can plan accordingly. She explained that the upgrade work wasn't supposed to cause an outage, and that we would all be receiving mails explaining what has happened. ... Read More

Comcast has to be one of the biggest cable tv and internet providers in the US.
Not long after I blogged the speeds that cable is capable of, I am LUCKY to even connect!
I am working on 5 long outages in the span of 10 days and my productivity is falling way short of what I need it to be!
And you know what else bugs me? Not ONE darned explanation of what could be the problem. Nothing. Why should Comcast bother ... Read More

Coming from a one time owner of a Mustang Cobra II and a Camaro Iroc Z (with a corvette engine), I've always had a need for a little speed. :)
That goes even more for my internet connection. I mean, there is no chance for a ticket if it goes too fast, no risk of an accident...so, let me go as fast as possible!
So imagine my delight reading Tomorrow's Net speeds could be up to 1,600% faster. My own ISP, Comcast ... Read More
