Cell Phone Photos

Cell Phone Photos

Laura and I played tennis the other day. The sky was an absolutely lovely fall sky.  I hadn’t brought my camera with me as my usual. Then I remembered, hey, my cell phone has a 3 MP camera in it! So I pointed the phone upwards… This could be handy! … Read entire article »

Family Map

Family Map

Along with my new phone plan, came this trial offer to try Family Map by AT&T. This helps me find Laura, or at least Laura’s phone. I also added my phone to the plan, because for some reason, we part at times. (I don’t guess I am the only one to lose my cell phone temporarily). So in signing up and trying it today, it gave me this map: As you can see the accuracy was off by … Read entire article »

Not Above the Law

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signs into law no cell phone use while driving. So his wife gets busted talking on the phone while driving. I don’t know what the penalty is for talking on the phone but the governor promised, “Thanks for bringing her violations to my attention. There’s going to be swift action.” Schwarzenegger spokesman Aaron McLear says that by “swift action,” the governor means he’ll ask his wife not to hold the phone while driving. A law that took effect in 2008 requires California drivers to use a handsfree device. Is that the “swift action” all Californians caught will receive? … Read entire article »

How To Change The Text Message Ringtone For The Samsung Impression?

Well, the new mobile phone is still a novelty around here. Laura is breaking records on text messages, but wasn’t very crazy about the alert tone announcing a text message. Unlike cell phones in the past that I have owned, this one didn’t come with a booklet/manual. It had a small quick guide, and a rather unimpressive down-loadable pdf manual. After some trial and error, I now know how to how to change the text message ringtone for our new phone. Here is what you do: 1. Menu –> Settings –> Sound Profile –> Click on Normal –> Click on the drop box on the top where it says “Normal” Change it to MESSAGE 2. Click on Message Alert Tone –> Click the bottom right TONES. Pick a tone It only gives you four options. … Read entire article »

Calling Sheila Jackson Lee

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-18) held her first in a series of town hall meetings yesterday. During a question from Tracy Miller, self-identified as both a constituent and a cancer survivor, and while she was talking, Rep. Jackson Lee picked up her cell phone from the podium and took a call. The entire room was abuzz, with both those for and against recognizing the rudeness of such behavior. It didn’t faze Rep. Jackson Lee at all, she continued talking and finished her conversation. That wasn’t the only time she wasn’t paying attention to her constituent. Several times, while people were asking questions, she walked to the front and engaged her staff in conversation. The arrogance from our elected officials just continues… … Read entire article »

New Road Dangers

As if the fatalities on the roads in the U.S. weren’t scary enough, we have a new danger…Text Messaging. One recent case? A twenty-five year old man driving 80 miles per hour in the wrong lane was pulled over by a sherriff’s deputy. The “reason” the man gave? He was texting. According to the Department of Public Safety, distractions such as texting or talking on cell phones were involved in at least 15 percent of all fatal crashes from 2005 to 2007. This so reminds me of my driver’s education class where they were always telling us, “Get the big picture, watch out for the other guy, drive defensively.” Good advice, even more so today. Connected and Mobile

Connected and Mobile

I love communication. I love to be connected with others, know what is going on with their lives, share my latest, and make plans for future events with them. All of this requires communication of some sort. I can also say that sometimes, busy lives keeps the lines of communication closed, and even so, it’s rather rewarding to know, with my very best of friends,  that when I actually DO get a moment, we can pick … Read entire article »

World Reaches 2.5 Billion Cell Connections

World Reaches 2.5 Billion Cell Connections

I read this little statistic on the day that at 6 AM, someone I don’t even know from Asia decides to ring my cell phone with a text message. Three times. I wasn’t very happy about it. So, today I read and learn that the total number of worldwide cellular connections now stands at 2.5 billion. The people that track this information say that there are about 40 million new connections per month. Amazing. "A quarter of the growth … Read entire article »

New Cell Phone

New Cell Phone

Since spending money isn’t easy for me, any new purchase is usually an agonizing process. (Not your typical woman, eh?) Combined with the purchase, is that it is something that I have little knowledge and understanding of, other than I knew I needed one, the process became even harder. So, after quite a few weeks of learning what it was I needed and didn’t need, I walked into Cingular at Marley Station Mall, and bought my new … Read entire article »
