A Day Trip to New York City

I don’t get asked out very often, so when Chris called asking if I wanted to spend the day in New York, I said, “Yes!” I knew Laura wanted to go back after a taste of New York last October and Miquel hadn’t gone with us that time. So we all piled into Chrissie’s  Mustang and took off early (very early) Sunday Morning.

We drove through some fog on the way up, but soon enough, the New York skyline greeted us.

For this particular trip, we decided on the Hop On Hop Off Tour Bus from CitySitesNY .
They  gave us a great tour.

I hadn’t been near the Empire State Building since I was 17.

The Flatiron Building was something I had read about and seen pictures of, but it was amazing to see for myself!

At one time it was considered to be the tallest building in New York City and the word skyscraper originated with this building. The building, completed in 1902, sits on a triangular island block at 23rd Street, Fifth Avenue, and Broadway, anchoring the south (downtown) end of Madison Square.

Las Ramblas? Are we in Greenwich Village or Barcelona?

This was my first glimpse ever of the United Nations Building. There were no flags out since the UN wasn’t in session.

The bus tour took us by Brooklyn Bridge

Brooklyn was plainly in view.

We also passed by Ground Zero. A very solemn moment.

This was also my first time seeing Rockefeller Center

Perhaps I should have called this post a “Day trip SHOPPING with Chris in New York City”

Chris meets up with a new friend she made on her shopping trip the weekend before.
