Broom Hockey

In case you don’t know what broom hockey is, let me explain. You take the church’s parking lot, empty it of all cars, form an oval with chairs, add two goals on either end, and invite the young people to bring their brooms, add a little orange ball, and you have broom hockey.

Our church has been doing this event for as long as I can remember, and is always a favorite activity among my children.

Laura, armed with the mother of all brooms (it has survived these events since Enric was her age), arrived ready to do battle. (She really is rather aggressive at this game).

I have to admit, as much as I had heard about this game, I had never seen it. Usually I drop the children off and head home. This time, I didn’t want to waste the gas (gas prices up again at your area?) and decided to stay and perhaps read a book or watch.

I found myself volunteering to be photographer for the event, as the camera was still in the car from my outing at Kinder.

Before the game.

Pastor Josh served as goalie on the first half for the senior girls, as they were outnumbered by junior high girls. (The senior high girls won anyway)

Truly, broom hockey is the best fun a young person can have!

I am thankful to our church that they can provide this kind of good, clean, fun for the youth.
