Christmas Shopping

Are you shopping online these days?

I noticed that I am. So many of the sites I have visited online are also offering free shipping and many there are no sales tax, with that in mind, it really is a great alternative to one’s usual way to shop. This year, each item ordered online has arrived earlier than the promised date of arrival, and all has been really smooth.

I’d like to think that I am a smart shopper, but there are times emotions are stronger and this time of year that can happen. Christmas comes the same time every year, it just makes sense to plan ahead, be smart, and save the real emotions for the loved ones we will see or connect with in some way over the holidays.

If you like to shop online, dozens of websites out there will aggregate different promotional and coupon codes that you can then simply cut-and-paste into your checkout process for that online retailer. At these sites you’ll find discounts for first-time-shoppers, percentage discounts, and free shipping when it wouldn’t otherwise be available.

Comparison pricing is also a sensible route to take, here are some sites that can help you:

But every once in awhile, there is nothing like going out to the shops and malls and soaking in the atmosphere, filling our arms with packages, listening to the Christmas carols, and getting our cheeks rosy from the cold.

Such was our day today. You see, each year the women of our family have a tradition. One day in the beginning of December, we decide on a Mall and we assemble together for a day of shopping. This year was the Arundel Mills Mall, locaated in Hanover, Maryland. A mall that is one floor of shops, built in an oval, and is about a mile of walking one time around.

It’s really been a different type of Mall to the area. It’s so huge, they have divided it up into sections, or something they call “neighborhoods”.

For a huge mall, the Christmas display with Santa is kind of small, seen here:

As we left, to add to our Christmas shopping atmosphere, the snow began to fall. Laura draws into the snow on Mom’s car.

Whether online or a traditional day out shopping, so far, my Christmas season of purchases has been very pleasant, I am hoping it stays that way.

How’s yours going?
