Highlight of the VMA’s

Russell Brand

Russell Brand

It wasn’t Russell Brand.

WHO?
That’s the fellow that the VMA’s imported from England to host the event.

Early on, he said, “Please, America, elect Barack Obama. On behalf of the world.”

So this idiot thinks he speaks for the world? His arrogance didn’t stop there.

He also referred to our President Bush as “that retarded cowboy fellow.” Mr. Brand should be glad he was on American soil and is actually ALLOWED to say such things.

Brand didn’t limit his insults to politics, I really think it’s Christians he hates. Brand, a confessed former sex addict, poked fun at young sex and abstinence. Speaking of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s daughter’s boyfriend and would-be father, Levi Johnston, Brand sympathized with him: “That is the safe sex message of all time. Use a condom or become a Republican! He then attacked the Jonas Brothers, the sons of a pastor, all of whom wear purity rings as a symbol of their vow not to have premarital sex.

Jordan Sparks

Jordan Sparks

Enter Jordan Sparks, who in spite of what could have been a hostile crowd, who also wears a purity ring, followed the arrogant Mr. Brand,  defended her beliefs and that of the Jonas brothers and said, “I just wanna say, it’s not bad to wear a promise ring because not every guy and a girl wants to be a slut, OK?”

The highlight of the whole evening.

The other highlight for me?
My daughter apologizing that this kind of crap was on, as she felt that kind of negative politics didn’t belong on an awards show.
The VMA’s, by their own admission, have a 5 second delay (as shown by the regular beeping out of Lil’ Wayne). If they had truly wanted to censor Mr. Brand, they could have. The fact is, they likely wanted it to run this way.

So, I am listing here the sponsors of the VMA’s just in case you want to know:

Pepsi
Revlon
Saturn division of the General Motors Corporation in Detroit
The Gap
Dodge division of DaimlerChrysler
Hewlett-Packard
Kyocera
Pantene the hair care line sold by Procter & Gamble
Virgin Mobile, a joint venture of the Sprint Corporation and the Virgin Group
Taco Bell division of Yum Brands.

    Hi there!
You found me through BlogCatalog today so I came by to see your page. 🙂

I just had dinner and we were watching what must have been a rerun of the VMA awards (although I am in Italy so maybe that’s why it’s a day late – subtitles had to be added to it – and might I add that they were all wrong too!!) My whole family was there and I was so embarrassed and insulted by that Brand guy! We just put the TV off now and I’ve come to my PC instead. We only saw the first 2 awards, but I’m not even going to watch the rest… I’m glad that somebody stood up to him though.

The world doesn’t need people who insult others like that… and think they’re funny for doing it!

    Hope you’re having a super day! 🙂
