Perth Bus Tour part 2

Carrying on from the bus tour part 1
🙂

One of the fun things of John taking me places in Perth is his ability to point out, “See that sign? I had a hand in making that.” This is just one example, and I asked him to let me get a photo in front of it as the bus went past.

A look back at Perth

Crossing the river to Burswood

It wasn’t until it was almost over that we were told those of us in the upstairs back to the left, (me) to beware of low trees. I soon had to duck from the lovely jacaranda trees.

John captures me taking it all in good fun.

Now something happened that we had to go around the city again. It’s ok, the Perth Bus tour tickets are good for two days!

St Andrew’s Uniting Church,
Built: 1906 – Architect: James Hine – Architectural style: Federation Gothic John sure wanted me to note the Flying Buttresses

St Georges Square

The Trinity Uniting Church right in the centre of the Terrace and therefore Perth. The Church was completed in 1897. There are two Foundation Stones – one laid by George Randall on 22nd March 1893, and the other by Sir William Cleaver Francis Robinson, Governor of Western Australia, on the same date.

I couldn’t help but snap this mural as we went below an underpass.

The Moon and Sixpence is a very traditional British Pub featuring dark exposed timber beams, cozy snugs for private little lunches and dinners, warm log fire fireplaces and the type of British hospitality that many have tried to copy but few if any have succeeded. Maybe one day John will take me 🙂

A little walk around off of the bus, and this Bird of Paradise flower caught my eye.

This was Perth’s first purpose-built fire station and was constructed in 1900. It operated as a fire station until 1979. Now it’s a Museum and a Fire & Education Training Centre.

Perth Mint.
This lovely historic building ‑‑ built in the 1890s to refine gold from the Kalgoorlie goldfields, and to mint currency ‑‑ is one of the world’s oldest mints operating from its original premises.

As our trip around Perth winded down, my eye caught these ladies having what looked like a delicious Devonshire tea.

As we made our way to the car park in Kings Park, John got me a Frappelatte, the most creamiest yummy iced coffee ever!  It only comes in one size, very small, likely a good thing. 🙂
