Perth Sculptures: Swan Fountain

Another Perth Sculpture, also a fountain.

This blog post is continuing about Perth Sculptures, but is better described as a fountain. I’d say it is a good mix of both.

This fountain stands in the center of a small lake (Citizen of the Year Lake) in the “Burswood Park Heritage Trail”. The centerpiece is a flock of swans perched on top of each other, wings open and in flight, leaping skyward, with jets of water shooting out of the lake.

The fountain commemorates Western Australian citizens of the year. There are a total of five swans, each of which represents one of the award categories .

The fountain was created by Joan Walsh-Smith and Charles Smith in 1993.

Seems as if a real black swan came up to us, making sure the fountain didn't get all the attention.

While we were studying it, seems as if a real black swan came up to us, making sure the fountain didn’t get all the attention.
