Shredfest Miquels Last Gig

Miquel officially ended his run with the band, Embers For Ashes tonight at Ram’s Head, The Shredfest 2011.

It was an emotional night for me, because I have seen these young men from early on and watch them grow as a band, as close as watching them in my backyard by the pool, and later from my barn, while plying them with cheesecake and other goodies, until they started playing in their first gigs. Also it was emotional, as Miquel had devoted a lot of time and heart into the band. As a mother, you notice and feel these things for your children.

Miquel did awesome tonight, with many that showed up to hear him sing one more time. I was one of them, it seemed important to him that his mama be there, and I was so happy to go with Jim, Chris, and Heather. When Jim heard Miquel at first, he used the word “charisma” to describe his performance.

Something new for the band, banners.

Quite a few of Miquel’s friends came to Ram’s Head to hear.

Vince, the new lead vox, joined Miquel and band on stage.

I think more than a few could have heard the band play all night.

Shaking hands with everyone.

Seems only natural that Miquel would have…

…an emotional moment…

but he ended it with a flash of one of his great smiles.

I was sick all week and wasn’t sure I could get to go tonight. I was so glad I made it. Miquel was a class act, and frankly to me, so was the band. They were so generous, along with Vince, to give Miquel his night.

A very tight performance, guys.
I sometimes wish you were still playing by my pool.

They were each very nice and apologetic that they had to tell us to turn down the noise.

I thought the law was nothing after a certain time, but apparently it applies to ANYTHING with an amp or over 90 decibels. I should report a certain motorbike that likes to start and stop all day….
