Majority Says Government a Threat to Citizens’ Rights

From CNN A majority of Americans think the federal government poses a threat to rights of Americans, according to a new national poll. The survey indicates a partisan divide on the question: only 37 percent of Democrats, 63 percent of Independents and nearly 7 in 10 Republicans say the federal government poses a threat to the rights of Americans. It seems Republicans and Independents think fairly alike on this issue. … Read entire article »

Government Run?

This came to my email today… To President Obama and all 535 voting members of the Legislature, The U.S. Post Service was established in 1775. You have had 234 years to get it right and it is broke. Social Security was established in 1935. You have had 74 years to get it right and it is broke. Fannie Mae was established in 1938. You have had 71 years to get it right and it is broke. War on Poverty started in 1964. You have had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to “the poor” and they only want more. Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. You have had 44 years to get it right and they are broke. … Read entire article »

Treaty of Copenhagen

The draft Treaty of Copenhagen, to be signed in mid-December 2009, would create an unelected world government with direct power over all financial and trading markets, and direct power to intervene over the heads of elected governments in the economic and environmental affairs of all nations that sign the Treaty. The word “government” actually appears in the Treaty as the first of three purposes of a huge, new, supranational bureaucratic entity that will have the power to require wealthier nations to redistribute up to 2% of their annual gross domestic product to third-world countries in imagined reparation for imaginary “climate debt”. Watch the video. On October 14th 2009, Lord Christopher Monckton, a noted climate change expert, gave a presentation at Bethel College in St. Paul, MN. He has a strong warning … Read entire article »

John Stossel’s Take On Obamacare

Dirty Secret Number 1 in Obamacare

I got an email from Chuck Norris today explaining a little known fact in the health care bill, hidden on page 838. For some reason, telling parents how to be parents is considered part of the government’s idea of health care. Dirty secret No. 1 in Obamacare is about the government’s coming into homes and usurping parental rights over child care and development. It’s outlined in sections 440 and 1904 of the House bill (Page 838), under the heading “home visitation programs for families with young children and families expecting children.” The programs (provided via grants to states) would educate parents on child behavior and parenting skills. The bill says that the government agents, “well-trained and competent staff,” would “provide parents with knowledge of age-appropriate child development in cognitive, language, social, emotional, and motor … Read entire article »

God is Sovereign, Not Man

A little lesson from my daughter’s Government Book: “And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.” Acts 12:22 and Herod believed their words. The belief that t hose who rule are self-styled gods, independent of God’s sovereignty over them, is a grand delusion for which Herod fell. God did not take long to remind King Herod that all rulers are subject to His sovereignty and law. “And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.” Acts 12:23 Today, the United States finds herself in the midst of making a simular choice. It is true that our coins have “In God We Trust” stamped on them. … Read entire article »

Proof – Government IS the Problem

Northern Trust, a Chicago based bank, a bank that received $1.6 billion in bailout money, was caught by TMZ, recently spending a fortune hosting a series of lavish parties and concerts to go along with a Golf Tournament. We’re told Northern Trust paid millions to sponsor the PGA event which ended Sunday, but what happened off the golf course is even more shocking. Northern Trust flew hundreds of clients and employees to L.A. and put many of them up at some of the fanciest and priciest hotels in the city. We’re told more than a hundred people were put up at the Beverly Wilshire in Bev Hills, and another hundred stayed at the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel. Still more stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Marina Del Rey and others at … Read entire article »

Savior Based Economy

Recently comments by the South Carolina governor, to me, shows a total awareness of what is going on with this country of late: The South Carolina Republican said such an economy is “what you see in Russia or Venezuela or Zimbabwe or places like that where it matters not how good your product is to the consumer but what your political connection is to those in power.” “A problem that was created by building up of too much debt will not be solved with yet more debt,”  ’We’re moving close to ‘a savior-based economy’ After all, why should we bail out companies that have made bad desicions? And how wise will the next set of decisions be with the next set of billions? General Motors plans to invest $1 billion in Brazil to avoid the kind … Read entire article »

Much Spending, Little Stimulus

I am not surprised to read the Senator from Oklahoma’s remarks regarding the “Stimulus” Package that will likely pass: “While I appreciate the efforts of my colleagues to bring down the price tag of this bill, the fact is we still face a trillion dollar spending bill. Making it worse, the bill is 93% spending and only 7% stimulation. Over the past few days I have fought to include more in the way of real stimulus through higher percentage of infrastructure and defense spending, while working to cut much of the typical government waste often found in a bill of this size. Yet Democrats have blocked these efforts.”   Is this what you want America? A near trillion dollars debt to hand to your children and grandchildren so Democrat elites can payback people … Read entire article »

New Regime

Not feeling too positive about the headlines, bailouts, new regimes ready to take over, and the like. I do have though, this quote from Joseph Stalin. “Work for more government intervention and control of the business activities of the people. In this way the American people will accept Communism without knowing it.” Oh, here is another one of his that really makes me think… “The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything.” … Read entire article »

Wisdom from Aunt Lynn

My Aunt and I likely couldn’t count the hours we have discussed [over the phone and in person ] the Bible, Religions, Politics, Relationships, and all sorts of World Affairs. She asked me to share something on my blog that was from her Sunday School class, especially since we are so close to election time: Christianity should be an attraction to everyone…but it isn’t. Why is that? It is because so many have made Christianity into a “religion”- it is a relationship, but it has been made into a religion by those who don’t know Him. Any religion is bondage. Let’s look at the Pagan religions of the world today and see what is has done to those countries:        Look at India.        Look at China        Look at the Muslim world.        Look at South America; a continent … Read entire article »

Pelosi Pork And Big Oil

While we consider big Oil and the price of gas (petrol)… Oh by the way, did you know that big oil companies DON’T control the majority of the oil, about 70 – 90% is owned by, guess what. GOVERNMENTS, depending how you count it. Now it all starts to make sense: Yet Big Oil is pretty small next to the industry’s true giants: the national oil companies (NOCs) owned or controlled by the governments of oil-rich countries, which manage over 90% of the world’s oil, depending on how you count. Of the 20 biggest oil firms, in terms of reserves of oil and gas, 16 are NOCs. Saudi Aramco, the biggest, has more than ten times the reserves that Exxon does. Those with misgivings about oil—that its price is too high, that reserves are … Read entire article »

Civics Class

Laura and I started school today. I added a class as an afterthought because of this being an election year. Government and Civics. Here is a quote by Thomas Jefferson I’d like to highlight: "As government advances, freedom gives way." Another by Woodrow Wilson: "Liberty has never come from government. The history of liberty is the history of limitation of government power, not the increase of it." … Read entire article »

Marylanders Beware

Today I was in the rare position of being in the car alone, and with no teen in sight, I got to move the radio to AM Talk Radio. I heard the following warning: “In today’s State of the State Address, Martin O’Malley spoke of ‘protecting our priorities.’  Unfortunately, O’Malley’s priorities are not the priorities of Marylanders.  While O’Malley continues down the path of out-of-control government spending, higher taxes, and according to today’s newspapers yet another hike in utility rates, Marylanders want fiscal discipline from our government, and they need tax relief now. “During the Special Session, Martin O’Malley increased government spending at unprecedented levels and signed into law $7 billion in new taxes.  Martin O’Malley has now proposed the largest budget in Maryland history, increasing spending by yet another $2 billion in … Read entire article »

Washington Waste

This is not a new story, in fact it is rather nauseatingly old; government waste of our hard earned dollars. In light of how several of our presidential candidates would like government run health care, I read the following two headlines easily imagining how badly they could waste tax dollars in the name of medicine for all. D.C. officials got improper bonuses two dozen senior D.C. officials received more than $500,000 in cash bonuses, contrary to the rules, near the end of the administration of Mayor Anthony A. Williams, according to a report Friday by the D.C. auditor. What’s the One Million For?

“Some men rob you with a six-gun, others with a fountain pen.” I am a little behind blogging on this news story. There are days our government can carry on antics with the speed of lightning, making it difficult for us bloggers to keep up.  And these are only the antics we hear of. With the taxpayers money though, every little cent should be accountable, however recently, there was a million dollar spending bill on the floor and no … Read entire article »

Immigration: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

It seems our government officials in Washington are trying to make a deal regarding the 12 million illegal immigrants in the USA. This seems to be an issue where there are many disagreements. The Good More than a few economist are praising the idea of immigration reform as they feel it will be good for the economy. On paper it sounds good, right? 12 million people is 12 million people paying taxes and becoming a driving force into the economy?  Or is it that they are already fueling the economy, but because they are illegal, Uncle Sam’s pocket doesn’t get filled? The Bad But doesn’t it have to be about more than the economy? I mean, in a large sense, it seems to be rewarding lawbreakers. Also one has to wonder if the money … Read entire article »

¿Dónde está los Minuteman?

I don’t get things in the news sometimes, (ok, a LOT of late). First we have a government that makes laws about people coming in here illegally. Next, in spite of 9-11, our government essentially looks away while 12 million illegal aliens cross the border, many from Mexico. Since so many are from Mexico, a group of citizens, tired of no action to back up the laws in this country, forms to take matters in their own hands. You’ve certainly heard about them in the news – The Minuteman. Next, get this, our government tells Mexico, where the Minuteman are stationed, basically ruining the element of surprise. Why have laws? I just don’t get it.   More on the story »  HERE … Read entire article »

Government vs Google

War on Terrorism, War on Drugs…now the War on Child Porn. The fight against it seems to have one thread in common, the government wants us to give up our privacy in order to fight them. While trying to fight porn, all of the other search engines have complied with the government, giving over millions of search results in doing their part of the Bush administration’s appeal regarding the Child Online Protection Act. Google has not. How much privacy are you willing to give up in the fight to protect children from online pornography? Read more HERE … Read entire article »

Pork Barrel Spending

This morning as I grabbed my morning cup of tea, FOXNEWS was interviewing someone regarding government waste. This was once an issue on the forefront of people’s minds and was also rather newsworthy, but you don’t hear much about it anymore. The interview made me realize this kind of waste still goes on, even though people don’t talk much about it anymore. Here some examples: $5,786,000 – wood utilization research (Alaska, Idaho, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oregon and Tennessee) $4,177,000 – shrimp aquiculture research (Arizona, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Texas) $645,000 – alternative salmon products research (Alaska) $250,000 – Vidalia onion research (Georgia) $200,000 – barley food health benefits research Onion research? $3,000,000 – research on the Charleston Bump, an offshore bottom feature that attracts a large number of fish mp is a dance?
