I am still getting to know the Republican candidates in this atmosphere of "anybody but Obama", and
learning as I go. Michele Bachmann as been in the news of late, so today my attention was taken to those news stories.
Apparently, she appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (sorry Jimmy, I never heard of you before), and as she was introduced the band PLANNED and PLAYED an offensive song.
A token apology was later offered. There were no consequences to the band ... Read More

I don't know Nick Cannon. I rarely watch TV or films, nor have I listened to rap music.
So I know nothing about this young man.
Recently I learned about a song he sings, and a thanks he gave his mother, for not aborting him. Apparently she was 17 and pregnant, and she first thought to have an abortion, and then didn't.
He thanked her. At the rate abortions go, those of us alive, perhaps all should thank our mothers.
The words to his ... Read More

This man, Kevin Skinner, came out on the show, Americas Got Talent, with his accent, his funny job (Chicken Catcher), his rough around the edges hat and clothes, and the panel of judges and audience had to surpress laughing at him.
He soon had their serious attention with his guitar playing and singing. He had mine, with the most gripping lyrics on a country song I've heard in awhile.

I don't know what it is with the Robins in our yard. They pick the most weird places to make a nest.
Last year, they chose our porch light, and basically out of politeness to them, they basically re-routed the way we entered and exited our own house!
This year, I think they have chosen the impossible.
Laura noticed this morning the nest being made in a corner of our barn, on its outside.
Before I could get excited, she pointed out to me ... Read More

"A piece of bread could buy a bag of gold."
This line from a once popular in church circles 70's song has been coming back to me a lot lately. I think the economy, watching gas and food prices rise has had a lot to do with that.
I so remember the film that went out in churches, "A Thief in the Night" giving a vivid idea to young people of The Rapture.
This whole idea has been revived with The Left Behind Books, ... Read More

Ever have "a song" with someone?
My trip today around the blogsphere took me to "The Art of Getting By's" request for suggestions on a wedding song.
This was the list of questions:
1. If you're married, what was your wedding song?
2. If you're not married, what song would you wish was your wedding song?
3. Do you have any suggestions for someone like me?
I love so many songs.
Two years ago on American Idol, Chris Daughtry sang "Memories of Us", that really touched me. ... Read More
Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.

On New Years Eve on Christmas break, into the late night, and the Christmas lights aglow, my son Enric sat at the piano, asked me if I wanted to hear the song he was composing ... Read More
