The Banksia Farm

It wasn’t easy leaving our beloved Siesta Park, but I was curious as to what awaited us at the Banksia Farm. I think we got more than we expected, and that was a lovely surprise.

Entrance to the Banksia Farm

The name of the place interested me as the banksia flowers are so different from anything we have in the U.S., and for years now I have admired John’s photos of the unique flower. As one might expect, the owners of the Banksia Farm, Kevin and Kathy Collins, have a passion for this flower, and a lot of knowledge about them and many other plants and flowers.

The view as we walked to the main house.

Outside the other main building a lovely dried banksia arrangement.

Inside we were introduced to a treat for a place to stay. A cozy and spacious wonderfully decorated home, with so much attention to every little detail.

The bedroom.

With a lovely window that came with a promise of birds waking us up in the morning...

...and a lovely view. We would later the next day climb those mountains.

More banksias in the bedroom, of course.

Ferrero Rocher chocolates were a nice touch.

A dolly sits on the dresser, too.

The bathroom was a treasure, too. The tub was big and a spa feature.

Even the soap dish was special.

I loved the touch of lace.

And rose petals.

By the bathroom sink.

So much just made you think you were living in another time.

Billiards, anyone?

A cozy corner.

Not sure what kind of chairs they were, but they looked very old, like something found in an old time theatre.

Dried banksias in the fireplace.

A full library of books and music of all kinds.

Book your trip to the Banksia Farm, it’s amazing!

  1. Hi John & Barb,
Pleased to hear you really enjoyed our piece of paradise.
Very impressed with your photography. The sunrise, the birds and the B&B accommodation. May the second month be as exciting as the first. Hope all is going well.
Please email us as I would love to negotiate use of some of the great pics…..our website is drab to say the least and needs good pics to better reflect the magic of our little farm.
    Regards….K&K.
