This is How We Roll

Now it isn’t that we don’t want to play the Rack-O game sitting in the table, or even a round of Scrabble, but of late, “fun” in our household has taken a new turn.

Like the three times since the baby was born, bailing out the two inches of rain in the basement.
We usually have a theory why it is happening, then we discover next rainfall that we were wrong.

Yesterday’s rain made for a flash flood, a bunch of us bailing, and Enric running outside underneath buckets of rain at once.

In the end, the only thing we could do during and after the  chaos, was laugh and make jokes.

Today after a hard days work, my sons were on the roof, looking yet for another possible reason we are seeing inches of rain in our very saturated basement.

Miranda, atop the picnic table, babe in arms, watching Enric and Miquel on the roof.

Miquel and Enric checking the gutters and roof on the house.

Without knowing if any correction is made, we face our weather forecast….

Hey Barb, Sorry to here about the basement. (Not Fun) If you don’t find anything with the roof it is probably around the foundation of the house somewhere. Check if you have any cracks and if any of the walls look or feel damp. Usually if there is water in the basement it is from that. We had to re-flash the front side of the house years ago because the wall in the corner of the basement was damp. If you have any scrubs that are planted close to the house you need to check maybe the roots have caused a crack somewhere. Oh and have you checked the sump pump? You could be getting ground water coming in also. This is a tough one. Good Luck. Talk soon.
