Too Hot, Go South to the Southern Ocean

So back home in the USA, if it’s too hot a lot of people will head north to cool off, so here in Australia, it has to be the opposite. One goes south. It’s a little hard to wrap my head around this concept, nevertheless, after weeks of 90 degrees and above, and sometimes over 100° F, I asked John could be please just go as far south as we possibly could for a day trip out?

And south we went. So far south, there was a plaque with a line showing us how far away the South Pole was.

South Pole Ahead. This may say we were 3,398 miles from the South Pole, but I was curious to see just how far we were from Antarctica: around 2257 miles!
According to Google Maps!
But the biggest thrill was to be able to see this little place at the Southern Ocean.
And put my feet in it!
The turquoise waters were so clean
Beyond the rocks where we were, we could see the power of the ocean waves.

One last look at the lovely Southern Ocean.

I think I could have been talked into staying there all day. The water was warm, in spite of its proximity to Antarctica 🙂 However, I was getting hungry and our next stop was the Berry Farm Café 🙂
