Where Did Friday Go?

Crossing the International Date Line

By now most know that Laura and I left THURSDAY from Maryland to go to Australia. As I blog this, we have JUST arrived in Melbourne, Australia, and it’s SATURDAY. We don’t know what happened to Friday.

Our flight from BWI to LAX had some events. One long patch of flying, we got to see lightning, but BELOW us. It was amazing to see.

Laura captured it on video here:

Then the lightning got closer and bigger:

The odd part of all this lightning was I thought we’d soon fly out of it, but we had that ‘show’ for a long time.

At LAX we had little time and a LOT of airport to run to catch our flight to Melbourne. We finally got to a bus that took us to the Tom Bradley International where we were stuck in a security long line. We were due to be boarding like NOW and there was no rushing that line. In the end, the flight was delayed in boarding and all the running we did was for nothing.

In the line we met two nice and helpful people, one of which turned out to be a rather well traveled Chef Adrian who owns and runs La Luna Bistro. He told us to be sure to look up La Pata Negra in Perth.

On our loooooong 15 hour flight to Melbourne, we had a very sweet lady with us in our row of seats. She had done this trip so many times, it was nice to hear of her experiences all over Australia. She was the most helpful person.

Since arriving to Melbourne, everyone has been so nice and helpful and friendly.

However, Laura and I are just lost. We don’t know what day or time it is, and we’re tired.

I looked at my phone for the time, and it was obvious that it was the wrong time. So I asked Laura,” What time is it? My phone’s time hasn’t updated.”

“That used to be such an uncomplicated question,” was Laura’s only reply.
