Birds of Lake Gwelup
As lakes go, Lake Gwelup is a very nice place to go. We’ve been before and have always enjoyed going. This time we went to see the rainbow bee eaters, but we saw a few more kinds of birds than that.
The rainbow bee eaters were there, but not out in force like we’ve seen in years past. They are so lovely. This is a pair, male and female sitting with the gumnuts.
We watched for a long time this Eurasian Coot and its babies. The babies sure don’t look a lot like mommy or daddy.
Pacific black duck was flapping its wings.
Sweet looking down at the black swan posed so lovely.
This spoonbill was a tad shy, but I got its picture before it flew off.
Twice now in this same area of the lake we’ve seen a bird of prey. Our guess on this one is a square tailed kite.
