Bosley – Boyce Connection

Of course, there is a Bosley -Boyce connection in the family. My Grandfather, Raymond Vaughn Bosley (know as “Red” to his friends) married my Grandmom, Ethel Lee Boyce. I have a list of the family on my Grandmom’s side, and she came from a large family. Mostly sisters, who I got to meet, but only every once in a while was a brother ever mentioned.

So it was interesting to see an entry in Ancestry regarding one of her brothers, son of Mr. & Mrs. Noah Boyce (my great grandparents) from Keyser West Virginia.

So, bottom left is Walter Ellwood Boyce. But what also caught my eye, was above him to the right was a John Wheeler Bosley, also from Keyser West Virginia.

John Bosley had to be family, but I am not sure quite how he fits at the moment, but he must be the son of one of dad’s family. I don’t know why
but he looks like a Bosley. He was in France on August 8th, 1944, and wounded and received the Purple Heart. Listed are the places he was stationed and I couldn’t help but notice Australia was on the list!

My Grandad lived on a large farm, but oddly enough his house was very close to the road. It always struck me that when a vehicle would go past, they would always honk their horns and we were all supposed to stop what we were doing and wave. I asked my dad, “Do we know these people, why do we wave?”
He answered,” Always wave back, they are likely your cousin.”

Maybe he is a cousin, sure looks like Bosley face to me.
If he ever rode by, looks like he should have received a salute as well as a wave.
